MEMO.—The ammunition will be sent free of cost if the whole allowance is included in one demand, otherwise the carriage of only the first portion issued will be paid by the public, and all Snider cases are to be returned by Government steamer as opportunity offers.
I hereby certify that there are rifles in possession of the corps; that I have the means of depositing the ammunition in a place of safety; that the practice range of the corps is yards in extent; and that last year’s annual allowance has been expended by the corps under my command for the purpose for which it was issued.
