MEMO. The ammunition will be sent free of cost if the whole allowance
is included in one demand, otherwise the carriage of only the first portion
issued will be paid by the public, and cases to be returned by Government
steamer as opportunity offers.

a place of safety; that the practice-range of the corpa is
yards in extent; and that the last year's annual allowance has
been expended by the corps under my command for the pur-
