THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

And whereas the Akaroa County Council has laid
before the Governor the memorial and map men-
tioned in and signed and certified as required by the
said Acts:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, in exercise and pur-
suance of the powers and authorities in me vested
by sections twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three,
twenty-four, and twenty-five of "The Public Works
Act, 1876," and by section twenty-eight of "The
Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878,"
and of any other power and authority enabling me
in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby
taken for the purposes of a road; and that, from and
after the third day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-one, the land so described
shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her
Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges,
claims, estates, and interests of what kind soever, for
use as a road.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 3 acres 3 roods 34 perches, more or
less, situate in the Survey District of Akaroa, Pro-
vincial District of Canterbury, being portion of
Section No. 16708, Banks Peninsula, commencing
117 links from the westernmost corner peg of Section
No. 12580. Bounded by lines generally Easterly and
North-easterly, 24, 138, 76, 128, 64, 49, 291, 206, 89,
111, 88, 226, 181, 103, 100, 77, 55, 135, 48, and 101
links respectively; generally Northerly and North-
westerly by lines, 5, 46, 92, 177, 91, 90, 159, 114,
143, 214, 281, and 140 links respectively; North-
easterly by a line, 100 links; generally South-
easterly and Southerly by lines, 103, 292, 244, 122,
111, 186, 95, 85, 191, 81, 98, and 149 links respec-
tively; generally Westerly and South-westerly by
lines, 196, 51, 156, 78, 70, 104, 70, 136, 187, 81, 105,
74, 203, 248, 74, 169, 153, 37, 120, and 109 links
respectively, to the starting point: be all the afore-
said linkages either more or less, and are more par-
ticularly delineated upon the plan attached to
memorial above referred to.

Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
first day of November, in the year of
our Lord, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and au-
thorities conferred upon me by the twentieth |
section of "The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act,
1879," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the
tands enumerated in the Schedule hereto for sale as a
village settlement, upon such terms and conditions
as are set forth in an Order in Council of even date
herewith, and made under the twenty-first section of
the said Act.

ment of Otatara, Southland Land District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
first day of November, 1881.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

W HEREAS by the twenty-first section of "The
Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," it is
enacted that the Governor in Council may fix the
terms and conditions upon which the lands comprised
in any village settlement shall be disposed of, and
the mode of payment for the same: And whereas
His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand has, by Proclamation in the New Zealand
Gazette, bearing date this third day of November,
set apart the lands enumerated in the Schedule
hereto for sale as a village settlement:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by the hereinbefore in part recited
Act, and by and with the advice of the Executive
Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby
fix the following terms and conditions upon which
the said village settlement shall be disposed of, and
the mode of payment for the same, that is to say, β€”

  1. The lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto
    shall be disposed of as small-farm allotments.
  2. The day upon which the lands shall be open for
    application shall be Wednesday, the eighth day of
