THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
(herein referred to as "the Board"), subject to the
stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,-
- The Board shall meet for the transaction of
business on the first Monday in each month, at seven
o'clock p.m., at the office of the Chairman, or at
such other time or place as may from time to time
be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be
held on Monday, the third day of October, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-one. - Special meetings may be convened by the Chair-
man, or by any two members of the Board, provided
that two days' notice of such meeting be given to
each member, specifying the business to be trans-
acted at such special meeting, and no other business
than that so specified shall be transacted at such
meeting. - Any three of the said Board shall form a
quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time
to time. - The members of the Board shall, at their first
meeting, and thereafter at an annal meeting to be
held on the first Wednesday in March in every suc-
ceeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to
be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and
shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The
Chairman shall hold office until the election of his
successor. - If at any meeting the Chairman is not present
at the time appointed for holding the same, the mem-
bers present shall choose some one of their number
to be Chairman of such meeting. - If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or other-
wise, the office of Chairman shall be or become
vacant, the members may at any monthly or special
meeting appoint a Chairman. - All questions shall be determined by the majority
of votes of the members of the Board present at a
meeting.

Authorizing the taking and laying down of Roads
over Native Land in the Auckland Provincial
District.

IN exercise and pursuance of all powers and au-
thorities enabling me in this behalf by "The
Native Lands Act, 1873," "The Native Land Act
Amendment Act, 1878 (No. 2)," and "The Public
Works Act, 1880," I, James Prendergast, the Ad-
ministrator of the Government of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby authorize
SIDNEY WEETMAN,
District Surveyor, of Kaipara, to take and lay down
roads over the lands specified in the Schedule hereto,
and for that purpose to exercise all such powers as
by the said Acts may be exercised by a person legally
authorized in that behalf under the said Acts.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor may from time to time, either by
general or particular description, and whether the
same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale
temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be
then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands
which, in his opinion, are required for any of the pur-
poses in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Chief Jus-
tice of the Colony of New Zealand, and Adminis-
trator of the Government thereof, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in
me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve
from sale the land in the Land Districts of Auck-
land, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago, described
in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose
in the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
ALL that piece or parcel of land situated in Block
VII., Newcastle Survey District, Provincial District
of Auckland, being called or known as Sections Nos.
173 and 174, Newcastle Suburbs North, Parish of
Komakorau, and containing by admeasurement 10
acres, more or less. Bounded towards the North-
east by Section No. 175, 1000 links; towards the
South-east by Section No. 187, 1000 links; towards
