Land taken for Road in the Portobello Road District,
Otago.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule
hereto is required to be taken under "The
Public Works Act, 1876," and "The Public Works
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," for a certain work,
to wit, the construction of a road through Section
number seventy-three, Block two, Otago Peninsula
District, Section number nineteen, Block seven, and
number twenty-eight, Block five, Portobello Bay Dis-
trict, and Section number twenty-seven, Block three,
Peninsula District, all in the Provincial District of
Otago:

And whereas the Portobello Road Board has laid
before the Governor the memorial and map men-
tioned in and signed and certified as required by the
said Acts:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities in me vested by sections
twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four,
and twenty-five of "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
and by section twenty-eight of "The Public Works
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," and of any other
power and authority enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the land described
in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the pur-
poses of a road; and that, from and after the eleventh
day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one, the land so described shall become ab-
solutely vested in fee-simple in Her Majesty, dis-
charged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates,
and interests of what kind soever, for use as a road.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 2 acres and 10 perches, being a road-line
through Section No. 73, Block II., Otago Peninsula
District, commencing at a point on the south-west
corner of said Section No. 73. Bounded by lines
as follows: North-westerly, 434 links; generally
Northerly, 559, 443, 577, 643, and 784 links re-
spectively; North-easterly, 61 links; generally
Southerly, 796, 642, 590, 465, and 498 links re-
spectively; South-easterly, 386 links; Southerly to
commencing point, 60 links.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 1 acre and 11 perches, being a road-
line through Section No. 19, Block VII., Portobello
Bay District, commencing at a point on the south-
east corner of said section. Bounded by lines as
follows: South-westerly, 1770 links; North-westerly,
63 links; North-easterly, 1788 links; South-easterly
to commencing point, 60 links.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 1 rood 12 perches, being portion of
Section No. 28, Block V., Portobello Bay District,
commencing at the most northerly point of Section
No. 28 aforesaid. Bounded by lines as follows:
South-easterly, 536 links; South-westerly, 60 links;
North-westerly, 540 links; North-easterly to com-
mencing point, 60 links.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 3 roods 16 perches, being portion of
Section No. 27, Block III., Otago Peninsula Dis-
trict, commencing at a point on the south-eastern
boundary of said section 1625 links from the most
easternmost corner. Bounded by lines as follows:
Generally Easterly, 938, 411, and 325 links respec-
tively; Northerly, 60 links; generally Westerly, 346, 394, and 388 links respectively; South-easterly
to commencing point, 73 links.

The above parcels of land being situate in the Pro-
vincial District of Otago, Colony of New Zealand,
and are more particularly delineated upon the plans
attached to the memorial above referred to.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
eighth day of August, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.
