Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-eighth day of July, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.

Appointing Day for Election of Member of Board,
Oteramika Road District, County of Southland.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the persons entitled to vote at the
election of a member for the One-Tree Point
Subdivision of the Oteramika Road District failed to
hold an election on the day appointed by "The Otago
Roads Ordinance, 1871," and it is expedient to appoint
a day for holding the said election, as is provided by
the tenth section of "The Otago Roads Ordinance
1871 Amendment Ordinance, 1874:"

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
of the powers vested in me by the said Ordinances,
and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," do
hereby proclaim and appoint that an election of a
member for the One-Tree Point Subdivision of the
said road district shall be held at noon, on Saturday,
the thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-one, at the Schoolhouse, Oteramika.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the

Alteration of Boundaries of Selwyn and Ashley
Counties.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section thirty of "The Counties
Act, 1876," it is enacted that the Governor in
Council may, by Proclamation, alter the boundaries
of any counties, and declare that, from and after a
day to be named in such Proclamation, the new
boundaries set forth in such Proclamation shall be
the boundaries of such counties: And whereas a
petition has been presented to His Excellency the
Governor by the Council of the County of Selwyn,
praying him to alter the boundaries of such county,
and to declare that the boundaries of such county
shall be those set forth in the First Schedule hereto;
and a petition has also been presented to His
Excellency the Governor by the Council of the
County of Ashley, praying him to alter the boundaries
of such last-mentioned county, and to declare that
the boundaries of such county shall be those set
forth in the Second Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council thereof, and in exercise and
pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling him
in that behalf, doth hereby alter the boundaries of
the County of Selwyn, and declare that, from and
after the first day of August, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-one, the new boundaries set forth
in the First Schedule hereto shall be the boundaries
of such county, and doth hereby alter the boundaries
of the County of Ashley, and declare that, from and
after the said first day of August, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-one, the new boundaries set forth
in the Second Schedule hereto shall be the boundaries
of such county.

Constituting County of Hawera, Provincial District
of Taranaki.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by the
fourteenth section of "The Counties Act, 1876,"
I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council thereof,
do hereby proclaim and declare that all that area
in the Provincial District of Taranaki, bounded
towards the North-west from the ocean, by
the Taungatara River to its source; thence
by a right line to the summit of Mount Egmont;
towards the North-east by a right line to the source
of the Patea River, and by that river to the point
where it last crosses the confiscation boundary;
towards the South-east by a right line to the source
of the Manawapou River, and by that river to the
sea; towards the South-west by the ocean to the
mouth of the Taungatara River, the starting point,
being portion of the County of Patea, shall con-

COUNTY OF SELWYN.

BOUNDED towards the North and East by Ashley
County, hereinafter defined, from the saddle near
the source of the Hurunui to the mouth of the Wai-
makariri River; towards the East by the ocean
and Lyttelton Harbour to the south-west corner of
the Lyttelton Municipality; thence by the western
boundary of the said municipality; thence by a line
due north to the summit of the Port Hills; thence
Westerly by a line along the summit of the Port
