by the Act last named that such of the railways
mentioned therein as are unfinished may be com-
pleted under the provisions of "The Public Works
Act, 1876," "The Public Works Act 1876 Amend-
ment Act, 1878," and "The Public Works Act,
1879: And whereas the land described in the
Schedule hereto is required to be taken for the said
portion of the railway from Wellington to Napier,
viz., for Napier workshops:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
of the powers and authorities conferred by the sixth
section of "The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment
Act, 1878," and of every power and authority in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto is taken for the said
portion of the line of railway herein last above
named.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 16 acres and 25 perches, more or less,
situate in the Town of Napier, Provincial District of
Hawke's Bay, commencing at a point in Munroe
Street distant from Concrete Block R 134 links, on
a bearing of 250Β° 48'. Bounded by lines as follows:
North-easterly, 1242 and 608 links respectively;
Northerly, 7 links; North-easterly 100 links, by
Munroe Street 600 links; Northerly by Section
No. 361, 500 links; North-easterly by Section
No. 361, Station Street, and Section No. 357, 400
links; Northerly by Sections Nos. 352 and 351,
400 links; North-easterly by Section No. 350,
371 links; Northerly by Thackeray Street, 81
and 488 links; South-westerly by Railway Reserve,
Education Reserve, and Sections Nos. 349, 347, and
345, 494 links; North-westerly by Section No. 345,
250 links; South-westerly by Wellesley Road, 100
links; South-easterly by Section No. 343, 250 links;
South-westerly to commencing point by Sections
Nos. 343, 341, 339, 337, 335 (Education Reserve),
333, Stamford Street, Sections Nos. 331, 330, 327,
325, 323, 321, 320, 318, and 317, 58, 613, 1057,
and 1406 links respectively; South-easterly to
commencing point by Railway Reserve, 32 links: be
all the above linkages either more or less; as the
same is more particularly delineated upon the plan
marked P.W.D. 8433, deposited in the office of the
Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the
Provincial District of Wellington.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-third day of July, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule
hereto is required to be taken under "The

Public Works Act, 1876," and "The Public Works
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," for a certain work,
to wit, the construction of a road in Block IX, Wai-
tohu District, Wellington:

And whereas the Otaki Highway Board has laid
before the Governor the memorial and map men-
tioned in and signed and certified as required by the
said Acts:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities in me vested by sections
twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four,
and twenty-five of "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
and by section twenty-eight of "The Public Works
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," and of any other
power and authority enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the land described
in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the pur-
poses of a road; and that, from and after the twenty-
eighth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one, the land so described shall become abso-
lutely vested in fee-simple in Her Majesty, discharged
from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, and in-
terests of what kind soever, for use as a road.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by
admeasurement 2 roods 28 perches, more or less,
situated in the Waitohu Survey District, Provincial
District of Wellington, being part of a road in the
Township of Otaki, Block IX., commencing at the
north-west corner of Section No. 68. Bounded to the
North-west by Sections Nos. 68, 67, 66, 65, 64, 63, 62,
and 61, 904 links; to the South-west by Mill Road,
75 links; to the South-east by Sections Nos. 101 and
102, 414 links, by a road 75 links, and by Sections
Nos. 116 and 117, 414 links; to the North-east by
a road to commencing point, 75 links.

Also all that piece or parcel of land containing by
admeasurement 6 acres 2 roods 6 perches, more or
less, situated in the Waitohu Survey District, Pro-
vincial District of Wellington, being portion of a road
in the Township of Otaki, also portions of Native
land, Section No. 24, Native claims Haruatai and
Waerenga, Block, IX., commencing at the north-east
corner of Section No. 100. Bounded to the North-
west by Sections Nos. 100 and 99, 414 links, by a
road 75 links, by Sections Nos. 84 and 83, 414 links,
by Native land 635, 681, 170, 564, 393, and 3495 links;
to the South-west by bank of Otaki River, 100 links;
to the South-east by Native land, Native claim
Waerenga, and Native land 3482, 381, 1429, and 649
links, by Sections Nos. 130 and 131, 414 links, by a
road 75 links, and by Sections Nos. 146 and 147, 414
links; to the North-east by a road to commencing
point, 75 links: be all the aforesaid measurements
more or less, and the same being more particularly
delineated on the map attached to the memorial
above referred to.
