A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Education Reserves Act,
1877," it is, among other things, enacted
that, in order to provide an endowment for primary
education in the North Island, at least five per centum
of the waste lands in each district therein open for
sale on the first day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-eight, and a like per centum out
of all land over which the Native title may thereafter
be extinguished in each such district, and which
should from time to time be acquired or purchased
by or on behalf of the Crown, should be reserved
and set apart as an endowment for the maintenance
of primary education within the education district in
which the land is situated:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
said recited Act, and of every other power and
authority me thereunto enabling, do hereby reserve
and set apart the several blocks or parcels of land
described in the Schedule hereto as endowments for
the maintenance of primary education within the
education districts in which such blocks or parcels of
land are respectively situated.

the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation issued under the
uthority of sections one hundred and twenty-
two, one hundred and twenty-three, and one hundred
and twenty-four of "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
the middle line of a portion of the railway
from Napier to a junction with the railway from
New Plymouth to Waitara, at Sentry Hill, passing
by Pakipaki, Waipawa, Waipukurau, Takapau, &c.,
being one of the railways specified in "The Public
Works Act, 1876," was defined: And whereas pur-
suant to the one hundred and twenty-fifth section
of "The Public Works Act, 1876," the Minister for
Public Works has caused to be made and, on the
fourteenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-nine, to be deposited in the office of
the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Napier, in
the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay, such maps
and plans as were necessary to explain the said por-
tion of the aforesaid line of railway (for Napier work-
shops) and the land through which the same passes,
and such maps and plans were referred to in such Pro-
clamation as aforesaid: And whereas the line of
railway from Wellington to Napier is the same rail-
way as that referred to in the Proclamation herein-
above recited, and is one of the railways specified
in "The Public Works Act, 1879," and it is enacted
