declare the manner and terms in which the same is
intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby,
in exercise and pursuance of the powers and autho-
rities vested in me by "The Public Reserves Act
Amendment Act, 1878," aforesaid, give notice of my
intention to change the specific purpose of that
portion of the reserve mentioned in the first column
of the Schedule hereto, and which is described in the
second column of the said Schedule, to the specific
purpose set opposite such description in the third
column of the said Schedule, and such land shall
henceforth be deemed to be reserved and set apart
for such last-mentioned specific purpose, and no
other.

Hares not to be deemed Game in Nelson.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by "The
Animals Protection Act, 1880," I, Arthur
Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby notify that hares shall cease
to come within the operation of the said Act within
the District of Nelson, as defined in a notification
under the said Act dated the thirteenth day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, and pub-
lished in the New Zealand Gazette of the fourteenth
day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one.
As witness the hand of his Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-second day of June,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one.

Fixing Shooting Season for Cock-pheasants within the
Akaroa County, North Canterbury District.
ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.
WHEREAS by a notification under "The Animals
Protection Act, 1880," dated the nineteenth
day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of
that date, it was declared that licenses to take or
kill game in the North Canterbury District shall be
issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings
each, and that licenses to sell game shall be issued
on payment of the sum of five pounds each, and
that the Secretary to the Acclimatisation Society at
Christchurch is appointed to issue the said licenses:
And whereas it is expedient to restrict pheasant-
shooting to Akaroa County alone:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
of the powers vested in me by the said Act, do hereby
revoke the said last-mentioned notification published
on the said nineteenth day of May, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-one, and further do make
the following notification: That cock-pheasants may
be taken or killed within that portion of the North
Canterbury District defined as the County of Akaroa
from the nineteenth day of May, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-one, to the thirtieth day of
July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one,
both inclusive, licenses for which shall be issued by
the Secretary of the Acclimatisation Society at Christ-
church on payment of the sum of twenty shillings
each; subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the
said Act mentioned.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-second day of June, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-one.

Regulations for Travelling Allowances in Public
Works and Telegraph Departments.
ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and autho-
rities vested in him in that behalf, His Excel-
lency the Honorable Sir Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
G.C.M.G., the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, doth hereby make the following regulations re-
specting the travelling allowances of officers in the
Public Works and Telegraph Departments; which
regulations shall be deemed to have been in force in
the Public Works Department from the first day of
March last, and to come into force in the Telegraph
Department on the first day of July next ensuing.
REGULATIONS.

Inspecting Engineers, District Engineers, Public
Works Department, Inspectors, Telegraph Depart-
ment, and all departmental officers below those ranks
will be refunded their actual travelling expenses, of
which a way-bill will be required to be kept, in the
form printed for that purpose, and sent in with the
voucher. -
A field allowance of 2s. per day, or 14s. per
week, will be paid while in tent in the field. -
When a horse is kept by special permission of
the Minister, either the actual keep of the horse or a
sum not exceeding Β£50 per annum, as may be decided
by the Minister, will be allowed, with livery when
travelling. -
The above regulations do not apply to Cadets,
nor to Inspectors, Overseers, and other similar
officers, Public Works Department, except when
travelling under special instructions,
