Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with
the advice of the Executive Council of the said colony,
doth hereby constitute the district comprised within
the County of Waitaki, as described in "The Counties
Act, 1876," to be a rabbit district under the said
"Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1880," and doth declare that
the name of the said district shall be the Waitaki
Rabbit District.

Vesting Reserve in the Corporation of Ashburton.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-second day of June, 1881.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule
hereto was reserved for municipal purposes:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is
expedient to vest the said land in the Mayor, Coun-
cillors, and Burgesses of the Town of Ashburton:
Now, therefore, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, and in
exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him
by the sixth section of "The Public Reserves Act
Amendment, 1878," doth hereby declare that, from
and after the day of the date hereof, the said re-
serve shall become vested in the said Mayor, Coun-
cillors, and Burgesses of the Town of Ashburton.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Town of Ash-
burton, in the Provincial District of Canterbury,
containing 2 roods, more or less, being Sections Nos.
90 and 91. Bounded-Northward by Moore Street;
Westward by East Street; Southward by Section
No. 76; and Eastward by Section No. 89: and
numbered 774 (in red) on the official map of the Town
of Ashburton, in the Survey Office, Christchurch.

Extension of Time for Preparation of Valuation
Lists of Highway Boards in the Hutt County.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-second day of June, 1881.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear that
certain things required to be done by "The
Rating Act, 1876," in connection with the making
and revision of the valuation rolls of the local bodies
in the County of Hutt, named in the First Schedule
hereto, have not been done within the times required
by the said Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the power
and authority vested in him by the said Act, and by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the
time for the doing of the said things in connection
with the valuation rolls of the said local bodies,
and doth declare that the time for the doing of such
several things shall be those which are specified in
the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
Wellington Highway District.
Lower Hutt Local Board District.
Karori-Makara Highway District.
Johnsonville Local Board District.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
- For transmitting to the local body the valuation
list: On or before the 29th June, 1881. - Valuation list to be open for inspection and
objections thereto to be received: Until the 6th
July, 1881.

Validating Burgess Roll of Borough of Wanganui
and certain Proceedings thereunder.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-second day of June, 1881.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear to the
Governor that, in consequence of the absence
of the Mayor of the Borough of Wanganui, the burgess
roll of the said borough for the year commencing on
the first day of June instant was not signed by the
Mayor till after the said first day of June instant,
and that the Auditors for the borough for the year
commencing on the said first day of June instant
were elected by burgesses whose names appear on the
said burgess roll: And whereas it is expedient to
validate the said burgess roll and the said election:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, and in
exercise and pursuance of the powers vested in him
by "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," doth
declare that the burgess roll for the Borough of
Wanganui for the year commencing on the first day
of June instant shall be as valid to all intents and
purposes as though the same had been signed by the
Mayor of the said borough before the said first day
of June instant; and that the Auditors elected by
burgesses whose names appear on the said burgess
roll shall be deemed to have been duly elected.

Changing the Purpose of a Portion of a Reserve.
ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.
WHEREAS by "The Public Reserves Act Amend-
ment Act, 1878," it is, amongst other things,
enacted that the Governor may declare his intention
to make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of
any public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her
Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes
named in Part II. of the Schedule to the said Act,
whether the same be granted or not; and, in the case
of any reserves made under the authority of section
one hundred and forty-four of "The Land Act,
1877," if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be
expedient to change the purpose of such reserves or
any part thereof from the purpose or presumed pur-
pose for which it was set apart to any other purpose,
or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be
expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in
such reserve for other land of equal value, to be
dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said
Part II., the Governor may, by notice in the Gazette,
declare his intention to make such change, exchange,
