enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation,
declare any of the several places specified in the
Third Schedule to the said Act in which a Municipal
Corporation has been established under the provi-
sions of an Ordinance of the Province of Otago
intituled "The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordi-
nance, 1865," to be a borough constituted under the
said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," from a
day to be named in such Proclamation; subject,
however, to certain conditions in the said section
mentioned:

And whereas the Town of Naseby, in the Provincial
District of Otago, is one of the places specified in the
said Third Schedule, and a petition has been presented
to His Excellency the Governor, by fifty of the rate-
payers of such town, praying him to constitute such
town into a borough under the said "Municipal
Corporations Act, 1876," and such petition was, on
the nineteenth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-one, publicly notified, and no
petition from an equal or greater number of such
ratepayers was presented to His Excellency within
two months after such public notification praying
him not to assent to the prayer of such first-men-
tioned petition :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling
me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare
that, from and after the date of this Proclamation, the
said Town of Naseby shall be a borough constituted
under the said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,"
and shall be called the Borough of Naseby; and that
the boundaries of such borough shall be those speci-
fied in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago,
containing by admeasurement 112 acres 3 roods 32
perches, more or less, situate in the Naseby Survey
District. Bounded towards the North-north-west by
Crown lands, 1782 links; towards the North-east by
Crown lands, 2229 links; towards the East-south-
east by Crown lands, 3790 links; towards the South-
south-east by Crown lands, 1243 links; and towards
the West-south-west by Crown lands, 5644 links:
be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the
same is delineated on the plan of the said town, de-
posited in the District Survey Office, Dunedin.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
first day of June, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
one.

Act, 1873."

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in me by "The Gold-Mining
Districts Act, 1873," I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the parcel of land
described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted
from occupation for mining purposes, or for water-
races, dams, or reservoirs, or for machine, business,
or residence sites.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land within the Aroha Gold-
Mining District, being a portion of the Thames High
School Endowment Reserve (save and except such
portions as are laid out as public roads), containing
by admeasurement 781 acres 1 rood 4 perches,
more or less, situate in the Survey District of Te
Aroha, Provincial District of Auckland, commencing
at the south-western corner of the said endowment.
Bounded - North-westerly by line, 4632.7 links;
thence North-easterly by line, 8000 links; thence
North-westerly by line, 2777 links; thence North-
easterly by line, 3150 links; thence South-easterly
by line, 9002 links; thence by road reserves abutting
Waihou River, 19281 links, to point of commence-
ment.

Abolishing the Auckland Petty Sessions District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirty-first day of May, 1881.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Petty Sessions Act, 1865,"
it is enacted that the Governor, from time to
time, by Order in Council, whereof notice shall be
published in the New Zealand Gazette, may constitute
and define districts within and for which Courts of
Petty Sessions respectively shall be held, and such
districts, or any of them, may from time to time
in manner aforesaid abolish :

And whereas by an Order in Council bearing date
the twenty-second day of July, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-eight, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette of the twenty-fifth day of July, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, the District
of Auckland was defined to be a district within and
for which Courts of Petty Sessions should be held
for the purposes of the said Act :

And whereas it is expedient to abolish the said
district :

Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir Arthur Hamilton
Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the power in this behalf
vested in him as aforesaid, doth hereby, with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
colony, abolish, from and after the first day of July
next, the District of Auckland aforesaid.
