think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred
payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day
on which the land shall be open for application; and
that he may also in like manner set apart for sale on
deferred payments such blocks or allotments as may
be recommended by any Land Board, and may also
from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:

And whereas the land specified in the Schedule
hereto was, with other lands, on the ninth day of
April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five,
proclaimed by the Superintendent of Otago as set
apart for sale on deferred payments:

And whereas the Land Board of Otago did, on the
eighteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one, pass a resolution recommending that
the land described in the Schedule hereto annexed
should be withdrawn from the deferred-payment
system:

And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the
aforesaid recommendation :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in
me by the above-named Acts, do hereby revoke the
Proclamation above referred to, so far as it relates to
the sections therein mentioned and included in the
Schedule hereto, and do proclaim and declare that
the said sections are hereby withdrawn from the
operation of the deferred-payment system.

HIGHLAY DISTRICT.
SECTIONS 18, 20, and 21, Block II.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
thirtieth day of May, in the year of our
Lord, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

WHEREAS by Proclamation bearing date the
nineteenth day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty, issued in pursuance of the
twenty-fourth section of "The Land Act, 1877,"
Ernest Calvert Wilkinson was appointed Local Land
Officer for the Hawera Local Land District, esta-
blished by Proclamation dated the nineteenth day of
October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty:

And whereas it is necessary that the said appoint-
ment should be revoked:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in
me, do hereby revoke the said Proclamation of the
nineteenth day of October, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty aforesaid, appointing the said

WHEREAS by the twenty-fourth section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time establish and define, abolish, alter, or
reconstitute local districts for the sale or disposal of
land, and in like manner from time to time may
appoint Land Officers or other persons for conducting
sales of land in such local districts, and for receiving
applications for the sale, letting, disposal, or occupa-
tion of Crown lands, and for generally carrying into
effect the provisions of the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint

ALFRED TRIMBLE

to be a Land Officer for conducting sales of land, and
for receiving applications for the sale, letting, and
disposal or occupation of Crown lands, and for
generally carrying into effect the provisions of the
said Act within the Hawera Land District, as esta-
blished by Proclamation under my hand, dated
the nineteenth day of October, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty.
