Proclaiming North Auckland Cattle District free
from Disease.-Notice No. 95.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS His Excellency the Governor has
received the certificate required by the twenty-
fifth section of "The Diseased Cattle Act, 1871"
(hereinafter called "the said Act"), to the effect
that Lots one, two, three, four, five, and six of Sec-
tion number four of the Suburbs of Panmure, being
the only remaining infected places in the North
Auckland Cattle District, are free from disease:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand aforesaid,
by virtue and in exercise of the power conferred upon
me by the above-mentioned section of the said Act,
do hereby proclaim and declare the said North Auck-
land Cattle District to be free from disease; and
such district shall, from the nineteenth day of May,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, on which
day this Proclamation shall be deemed to come into
force, cease to be an infected place within the mean-
ing of the said Act.

Taking of Land for the Borough of Wellington
Water Supply.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and seventy-
nine of "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876" (herein referred to as "the said Act"), it is
enacted that the Council of a borough constituted
under the said Act may take any land within the
borough for any of the purposes of the said Act, in
the manner provided by the Second Part of "The
Public Works Act, 1876:" And by the two hundred
and forty-fourth section of the said Act it is enacted
that the Council may construct waterworks for the
supply of pure water for the use of the inhabitants
of the borough, or of the shipping in any harbour
adjoining, and may do all things necessary thereto,
and therein especially may purchase or take, under
the provisions of "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
land and waters within or beyond the borough: And
by the two hundred and forty-fifth section of the said
Act it is enacted, that any land or water so taken
shall be taken under the provisions of "The Public
Works Act, 1876:"
And whereas by section seven of "The Municipal
Corporations Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1877," it is
enacted that the Council of every borough may pur-
chase or take under the provisions of "The Public
Works Act, 1876," any lands outside of as well as
within the borough for any purpose connected with
the drainage of the borough, the maintenance and
repair of the roads, streets, and public places thereof,
or the public health, protection, and safety of its
inhabitants, or for any other purpose for which the
Council is authorized to take land within the borough:
And whereas the Council of the Borough of Wel-
lington propose to construct the following works,
viz.: Waterworks for the supply of the City of Wel-
lington, with water from a weir situated in the Wai-
nuiomata District of the Provincial District of Wel-
lington:
And whereas the Council aforesaid has laid be-
fore me the memorial and map required by the
twenty-fifth section of "The Public Works Act,
1876:"
And whereas it appears to me that all things re-
quired by the said Act, "The Municipal Corporations
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1877," "The Public Works
Act, 1876," and "The Public Works Act 1876
Amendment Act, 1878," to be done and performed to
authorize the taking of the said lands have been done
and performed:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, in exercise and pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the twenty-fifth
section of "The Public Works, Act, 1876," and by
the said Acts, and of every other power and authority
enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the lands described in the Schedule
hereto are hereby taken for the purpose of such
works as aforesaid; and that, from and after the
nineteenth day of May, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-one, the lands described in the
Schedule hereto shall become vested in fee-simple
in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the
Borough of Wellington, discharged from all mort-
gages, charges, claims, estates, and interests of what
kind soever, for the purpose of such works as afore-
said.
SCHEDULE.
A PARCEL of land forming part of Section No.
35, in the Wainuiomata District, containing 30
acres. Bounded on the Eastward by the eastern
boundary of the said section from a point measured
27207 links from the point where such boundary
joins the eastern boundary of Section No. 34, and
extending from the first-mentioned point northerly
to a point on the said eastern boundary 2780-8 links
from the commencing point, and being a parallelo-
gram extending westerly from the said eastern
