Redefining Districts under "The Licensing
Act, 1873."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Licensing Act, 1873," it
is, amongst other things, enacted that the
Governor shall, as soon as conveniently may be after
the passing of the said Act, by Proclamation in the
Government Gazette, define such territorial divisions
as he may think proper to be licensing districts for
the purposes of the said Act, and from time to time
may alter and redefine the boundaries of the same :
And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-third day of February, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-four, the Districts of Tauranga,
Te Papa, and Maketu were, amongst others, consti-
tuted under the said "Licensing Act, 1873:" And
whereas it is expedient to alter and redefine the
boundaries of the said districts :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
of the provisions of the hereinbefore recited Act, and
of every power and authority enabling me in this
behalf, do hereby alter and redefine the boundaries
of the said Districts of Tauranga, Town of Tauranga
(hitherto called Te Papa), and Maketu, as the same
are defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

TAURANGA LICENSING DISTRICT.

COMMENCING at the seaward termination of the con-
fiscated boundary-line drawn from Te Aroha Trig.
Station, in a north-easterly direction, to the sea-coast.
Bounded-North-easterly by the sea-coast to Trig.
Station No. 17 on the said coast; thence towards the
East by a right line nearly due south to its inter-
section with the Kaituna River; thence along the
Kaituna River to its confluence with the Waiari
Stream; thence by last-named stream to its con-
fluence with the Oturuturu Stream; thence by the said
stream to its confluence with the Mangatoi Stream;
thence towards the South following said stream until
a right line intersects it bearing 106Β° 49' from Trig.
Station on summit of Otanewainuku; thence by said
line to last-mentioned Trig. Station; thence by a
right line to Trig. Station on the summit of Puwhenua;
the water-shed line along the summit of range to the
southern boundary of the Te Aroha Licensing District;
thence by part of the southern and the whole of the
eastern boundary of the Te Aroha Licensing District
aforesaid to the confiscation line'; thence by the
confiscation line to the East Coast, the point of com-
mencement. The islands of Mayor, Motiti, and
Plate are included in the above, and the Town of
Tauranga Licensing District, hereunder described, is
excluded.

TOWN OF TAURANGA LICENSING DISTRICT.

Commencing at the southernmost angle of Allot-
ment No. 722 of Section No. 2, Town of Tauranga.
Bounded-South-westerly by a right line drawn to
the westernmost corner of Allotment No. 696, Section
No. 2 aforesaid, and by this line produced in a north-
westerly direction till it meets the Kopurererua
Stream; thence by said stream to its confluence with
the Waikareao Estuary; thence by the Waikareao
Estuary and the Tauranga Harbour to point of com-
mencement.

MAKETU LICENSING DISTRICT.

Commencing at Trig. Station No. 17, on the East
Coast, being the north-easternmost corner of the
Tauranga Licensing District, hereinbefore described.
Bounded towards the North-east by the sea to a
point five miles east of the Matata River; thence by
a line to Mount Edgecumbe; thence by a line to a
point five miles due south of the most southerly
extremity of Rerewhakaitu Lake; thence by a line
till it meets the extremity of a line drawn due south
for a distance of twenty-two miles from Otanewainuku
