Land set apart on Deferred Payments in Otago.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time set apart out of any suburban or rural
lands such blocks or allotments of land as he shall
think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred
payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day
on which the land shall be open for application; and
that he may also in like manner set apart for sale on
deferred payments such blocks or allotments as may
be recommended by any Land Board, and may also
from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:
And whereas the Land Board of Otago did, on the
nineteenth day of January, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-one, pass a resolution recommending
that the land described in the Schedule hereto an-
nexed should be set apart for sale on deferred pay-
ments:
And whereas it is expedient to give effect to the
aforesaid recommendation, and to set apart the said
land accordingly:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in
me by the above-named Act, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the land described in the Schedule
hereto is set apart for sale on deferred payments; and
that Monday, the twenty-eighth day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, shall be the
day on which the said land shall be open for applica-
tion at the Land Office at Dunedin, in allotments
as surveyed and marked on the selection map in that
office.
And, further, in pursuance of the fifth section of
"The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879," I do
hereby fix the price at which the land so described
shall be sold to be the price set opposite each allot-
ment in the Schedule hereto.

Regulations and By-laws for the Depasturing of
Cattle and the Issue of Timber Licenses within
Forests belonging to the Crown in the Westland
Land District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-second day of February, 1881.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by subsection two of section ninety-
three of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor in Council may from time to time
make, alter, or repeal regulations and by-laws for
prescribing the mode and form of application for
leases or licenses of, or the grants of privileges in,
such forests as may be declared to be forests, subject
to the provisions of Part V. of the said Act, and the
terms and conditions of such leases, licenses, and
grants: And whereas the Governor, by Proclamation
in the New Zealand Gazette dated the sixteenth
day of February, has declared that all the forests
belonging to the Crown within the Westland Land
District shall be forests subject to the provisions of
the said Part V.:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by the hereinbefore in part
recited Act, and by and with the advice of the
Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand,
doth hereby fix the following to be the regulations
and by-laws for the privilege of depasturing great
and small cattle, and for the issue of timber licenses
within the forests belonging to the Crown within the
Westland Land District:—
REGULATIONS AND BY-LAWS.
- In these regulations the word "forests" means
forests belonging to the Crown in the Westland Land
District.
The words "great cattle" mean and include any
bull, cow, ox, steer, heifer, or calf, horse, mule, ass,
