tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Her Majesty's High
Commissioner for the Western Pacific,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
fourth day of February, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one.

Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the
times for doing the said things in connection with
the valuation roll of the said borough, and doth
declare that the times for the doing of such several

  1. For transmitting to the borough the valuation
    list: On or before the seventh day of February, 1881.
  2. Valuation list to be open for inspection, and
    objections thereto to be received: Until the seventh
    day of March, 1881.

Extension of Time for Preparation of Valuation Roll,
County of Inangahua.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
fourth day of February, 1881.
Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it has been made to appear that cer-
tain things required to be done by "The
Rating Act, 1876," in connection with the prepara-
tion and revision of the valuation roll of the County
of Inangahua cannot be done by or within the times
mentioned in the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers
vested in him by the said "Rating Act, 1876," and
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the
times for doing the said things in connection with
the valuation roll of the said county, and doth declare
that the times for the doing of such several things
shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

  1. For transmitting to the county the valuation
    list: On or before the seventh day of February, 1881.
  2. Valuation list to be open for inspection, and
    objections thereto to be received: Until the seventh
    day of March, 1881.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council bearing date
the twenty-eighth day of September, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty, the powers
granted to the Colonial Secretary under the seventy-
fourth and seventy-fifth sections of "The Lunatics
Act, 1868," were delegated to Thomas Anstey Mans-
ford, since deceased: And whereas it is expedient
to delegate the said powers in manner hereinafter
expressed:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth, by this present Order, delegate to
Edward Shaw the powers granted to the Colonial
Secretary under the seventy-fourth and seventy-fifth
sections of the said Act, and doth hereby order that
the said powers shall be exercised by the said
Edward Shaw within the said Wellington District.

of Ashburton cannot be done by or within the times
mentioned in the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

WHEREAS by "The New Zealand Institute Act,
1867," provision is made for the appointment
of members of a Board of Governors of the New
Zealand Institute, and it is enacted that, on the first
day of November, one thousand eight hundred and
sixty-eight, and on the first day of November in each
succeeding year, three members of the said Board of
Governors shall retire from office, but shall be eligible
for reappointment: And whereas the Honorable
George Randall Johnson, James Hector, Esquire,
and William Thomas Locke Travers, Esquire, three
of the members of the said Board of Governors, have
retired from office, and are eligible for reappointment
under the provisions of the said Act: And whereas
by the said Act it is also provided that, on the annual
retirement of the said three members, the successors
of such retiring members shall be appointed by the
Governor:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the power and authority in
