Conditions for Trout Fishing in Wellington.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in him by "The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867,"
His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand doth hereby make the following regulations
for the Provincial District of Wellington:-

REGULATIONS.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the
    twenty-ninth day of January, one thousand eight
    hundred and eighty-one.

  2. Any holder of a license, as hereinafter men-
    tioned, may fish with rod and line, but with artificial
    flies only as bait, for trout in the River Hutt and its
    tributaries, except the Pakuratahi, and in the River
    Wainuiomata, in the Provincial District of Welling-
    ton, from the twenty-ninth day of January, one
    thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, until the
    thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred
    and eighty-one.

  3. Licenses to fish with rod and line as aforesaid
    in the said rivers and streams will be issued under
    the hand of the Secretary of the Acclimatisation
    Society at Wellington; and for every license a fee of
    twenty shillings will be charged.

  4. No license shall authorize any person other than
    the person named therein to fish, and that only with
    rod and line, and such bait as aforesaid.

  5. Any person fishing without a license or other-
    wise than as above, or any person who shall on demand
    of any person holding and showing a license, or on
    the demand of any police officer or constable, fail
    to produce and show to such person, police officer, or
    constable his license, shall be liable to a penalty not
    exceeding twenty pounds.

  6. All trout not exceeding eight inches in length
    taken by any person fishing as aforesaid shall be im-
    mediately returned alive to the river or stream, and
    any person convicted of infringing this regulation
    shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty
    pounds sterling, and his license shall thereupon
    become void.

  7. No person shall use any live bait, ground-bait,
    net, or other engine, instrument, or device for taking
    fish in any river or stream within the Provincial
    District of Wellington, and all persons offending
    against this regulation shall be liable to a penalty
    not exceeding fifty pounds.

  8. Any person who puts, throws, or places, or
    allows to be put, thrown, or placed, into any river or
    stream in the said Provincial District of Wellington,
    any dynamite or other explosive substance, or any
    matter or liquid deleterious to fish, shall be liable to
    a penalty not exceeding one hundred pounds.

gistrates' Courts for Rates and Fees under "The
Sheep Act, 1878."-Notice No. 85.

ARTHUR GORDON, Governor.

I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in the name
and on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, appoint
the persons named in the Schedule hereto to be
Agents respectively within the districts and sub-
divisions of districts for which they are Chief Inspec-
tors and Inspectors of Sheep under "The Sheep Act,
1878," to appear and act for Her Majesty in all suits
in the Resident Magistrates' Courts brought within
their said districts and subdivisions, for the recovery
of the rates or sums of money payable to Her Ma-
jesty under the twenty-second section of "The Sheep
Act, 1878," or under any other section of the said
Act.

of the House of Representatives of New Zea-
land for the Southern Maori Electoral District, con-
stituted under "The Maori Representation Act,
1867," "The Maori Representation Act Amendment
and Continuance Act, 1872," and "The Maori Repre-
sentation Acts Continuance Act, 1876," is published
in the New Zealand Gazette, in accordance with re-
gulations issued by Proclamation bearing date the
22nd day of August, 1879, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette of the same date.
