Street, and known as the "Town Wharf," also the
wharf or jetty on the eastern side of the said street,
called the Strand, at the foot of Harington Street,
and known as the "Victoria Wharf," shall be deemed
and taken to be legal landing-places for the lading
and unlading of goods under the Customs Regulation
Act.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this eighteenth day of Novem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-one.

Releasing from Actual Service certain Volunteer
Corps.

A. GORDON, Governor.

WHEREAS by the thirty-sixth section of "The
Volunteer Act, 1881," it is enacted that the
Governor may at any time call out for actual service
any Volunteer corps or any part thereof, and that
every officer and volunteer so called out shall be
bound to assemble at such places as the Governor
may direct, and shall remain on actual service until
released by the Governor's authority:

And whereas by warrants bearing dates the twenty-
seventh day of October and third day of November,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, re-
spectively, the Volunteer corps hereinafter named
were called out for actual service, and it is expedient
to release them from such service:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power in me vested by the said
Act, do hereby release from actual service every
officer and volunteer belonging to the Volunteer corps
hereinafter named, that is to say,—

The Taranaki Mounted Rifle Volunteers.
The Wairoa Light Horse Volunteers.
The Hawera Light Horse Volunteers.
The Waverley Rifle Volunteers.
The Patea Rifle Volunteers.
The Normanby Rifle Volunteers.
The Alexandra Cavalry Volunteers.
The Wanganui Rifle Volunteers.
The Wanganui City Rifle Volunteers.
The Royal Rifle Volunteers.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint
Sergeant SOREN CHRISTOPHER WILLIAM MÖLLER
to be an Inspector of Weights and Measures for the
Boroughs of Hokitika, Kumara, and Ross, and for
the County of Westland, vice Constable Hannan,
transferred.

to be a Public Vaccinator, under "The Public Health

to be a Public Vaccinator, under the said Act, for the
Waimea South District.
