Proclaiming St. Albans a Borough under "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section seventeen of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1876," the Governor
is empowered, by Proclamation, to declare any dis-
trict in New Zealand to be a borough under the said
Act, from and after a day to be named in such Pro-
clamation:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in me
by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the district described in the Schedule hereto shall be
and the same is hereby constituted, as from the
twenty-fourth day of November, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-one, a borough under the said
Act, and that the name of such borough shall be
the Borough of St. Albans, and that the boundaries
of such borough shall be those described in the
Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 1,580 acres, more
or less, and situated in the Christchurch Survey Dis-
trict. Bounded towards the North-west, from the
most northerly corner of Rural Section No. 242,
by Norman's Road, Papanui Road, May's Road,
McFadden's Road, Philipott's Road, and Innes's
Road to Rural Section No. 345A; towards the North-
east by last-mentioned section and Rural Section
No. 2795 to Shirley Road, and by Shirley Road to
Hill's Road; towards the East by Hill's Road and
North Avon Road to the City of Christchurch North
Town Belt; towards the South by the said Town
Belt and River Avon to a road forming the south-
west boundary of Rural Section No. 6; and towards
the South-west by that road, by road forming part of
south-east boundary of Rural Section No. 133 to the
River Avon, by said river, and by Rural Section No.
242 to its most northerly corner, the starting point:
as the same is delineated on the plans in the District
Survey Office, Christchurch.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the twenty-fourth section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the Go-
vernor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time establish, and define, abolish, alter, or
reconstitute local districts for the sale or disposal of
land, and in like manner from time to time may
appoint Land Officers or other persons for conducting
sales of land in such local districts, and for receiving
applications for the sale, letting, disposal, or occupa-
tion of Crown lands, and for generally carrying into
effect the provisions of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint
JOHN NUGENT WOOD
to be a Land Officer for conducting sales of land, and
for receiving applications for the sale, letting, and
disposal or occupation of Crown lands, and for gene-
rally carrying into effect the provisions of the said
Act within the Lawrence Local Land District, as
established by Proclamation under the hand of His
Excellency the Governor, dated the sixteenth day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight.
