IN exercise of the power in me for this purpose
vested by "The Customs Tariff Act, 1880," and
"The Customs Regulation Act, 1858," I, James
Prendergast, Chief Justice, the Administrator of the
Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby approve of the Ports of Auckland, Wellington,
Lyttelton, and Dunedin as ports for the importation
of playing-cards.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Administrator of the Government, this
fifth day of October, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty.

Wellington, Lyttelton, or Dunedin, to be stamped.

THE following provision in "The Customs Tariff
Act, 1880," relating to playing-cards is published
for general information:-
Section 8. Every pack of playing-cards imported
or cleared from any warehouse after the
passing of this Act shall be stamped or
marked in such manner as the Commissioner
of Customs may direct.
Any person who sells, uses, or has possession
of any pack of cards so imported and cleared,
and not so stamped or marked, shall forfeit a
sum not exceeding fifty pounds.
