Powers delegated to the Oxford Domain Board under
"The Public Domains Act, 1860."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twentieth day of July, 1880.

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council, bearing date
the eighteenth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-eight, made and issued
under the authority of "The Public Domains Act,
1860," "The Public Domains Act, 1865," and "The
Public Reserves Act, 1877," certain powers were, in
respect of certain lands referred to in a further
Order in Council of the same date, made and issued
under "The Public Reserves Act, 1877," aforesaid,
delegated to Joseph Pearson, senior, Richard Perham,
John Mullins, John Rhodes Pearson, and John R.
Gorton:

Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, by virtue and exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in me by "The Public Domains
Act, 1860," aforesaid, and by and with the advice
of the Executive Council of the said colony, do
hereby revoke the Order in Council delegating the
Governor's powers to the above-named persons; and
do hereby further delegate, in respect of the lands
referred to in the aforesaid Orders in Council, all
the powers conferred by "The Public Domains Act,
1860," except the powers under or conferred by
subsections five and ten of section five and section
eleven, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall
be known as the Oxford Domain Board:-

JOSEPH PEARSON, Senior,
JOHN MULLINS,
JOHN R. GORTON,
GEORGE PLASKETT, and
WILLIAM FISHER PEARSON

(herein referred to as "the Board"), subject to the
stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,–

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of
    business on the first Monday in each month, at seven
    o'clock p.m., at the office of the Oxford Road Board,
    or at such other time or place as may from time to
    time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall
    be held on Monday, the second day of August, one
    thousand eight hundred and eighty.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chair-
    man, or by any two members of the Board, provided
    that two days' notice of such meeting be given to
    each member, specifying the business to be trans-
    acted at such special meeting, and no other business
    than that so specified shall be transacted at such
    meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a
    quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time
    to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first
    meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be
    held on the first Monday in January in every suc-
    ceeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to
    be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and
    shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The
    Chairman shall hold office until the election of his
    successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present
    at the time appointed for holding the same, the mem-
    bers present shall choose some one of their number
    to be Chairman of such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or other-
    wise, the office of Chairman shall be or become
    vacant, the members may at any monthly or special
    meeting appoint a Chairman.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority
    of votes of the members of the Board present at a
    meeting.

Appointment of Resident Magistrates' Courts for
Ridings in County of Ashburton, pursuant to Sec-
tion 47 of "The Counties Act, 1876."

HERCULES ROBINSON, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in me by the forty-seventh section of "The
Counties Act, 1876," I, Hercules George Robert
Robinson, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
do hereby appoint the Resident Magistrate's Court
named in the first column of the Schedule hereto to
be the Resident Magistrate's Court for the ridings
in the County of Ashburton named in and set
opposite to such Court in the second column of the
said Schedule, to which any person who considers
himself aggrieved by his own name or that of any
other person being entered on or omitted from the
roll of such ridings respectively, or by the number of
votes allotted to him or to any other person thereon
being more or fewer than that to which he or such
other person is entitled under the said Act, may
apply for relief.

Altering Times of Meeting of the Land Board of the
Land District of Hawke's Bay.

HERCULES ROBINSON, Governor.

WHEREAS by the first subsection of section
twenty-five of "The Land Act, 1877," it is
provided that the Land Boards of the respective land
districts shall sit at the Land Office in the principal
town of the land district, at certain times to be
determined by the Board and approved of by the
Governor, and published in the New Zealand Gazette :

And whereas by a warrant under the hand of His
Excellency the Governor, dated the fifteenth day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of
the seventeenth day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-eight, it was appointed that the
Land Board of Hawke's Bay should sit on the third
day of January, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight, and on every alternate Thursday there-
after, at eleven o'clock a.m :

And whereas the Land Board of Hawke's Bay did,
on the first day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty, pass a resolution recommending that the
time of sitting should be altered, and it is expedient
to give effect to the said recommendation :

Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of New Zealand, in exercise
