A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and
authorities enabling me in that behalf, I, Her-
cules George Robert Robinson, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and
declare that, by an Order in Council made under the
provisions of "The Bank Holidays Act, 1873," and
bearing even date herewith, I have declared that
Monday, the second day of August next, shall be a
bank holiday within the Borough of the City of
Nelson, under and for the purposes of the said Act.

Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distin-
guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twentieth day of July, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twentieth day of July, 1880.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in
me by "The Education Act, 1877," I, Sir
Hercules George Robert Robinson, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, do hereby make the following regulation
respecting the class books to be used in public
schools, that is to say,β

The book entitled "English History for Schools,"
by John Curnow (George Philip and Son, London),
and the several parts of the book entitled "Elemen-
tary Linear Drawing," by David C. Hutton (issued
by the Education Department), may be used in any
public school as if they had been described and
included in the list of works set forth in the Order
in Council dated the twenty-fourth day of Sep-
tember, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight. -
This regulation shall come into force on the
date hereof.

Approving Plan, Breastwork and Jetty, Lyttelton
Harbour.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twentieth day of July, 1880.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS a certain plan of a breastwork and
jetty to be constructed in Lyttelton Harbour has been submitted by the Lyttelton Harbour Board
for the approval of the Governor in Council, in ac-
cordance with the provisions of "The Harbours Act,
1878," and it having been made to appear to the
Governor in Council that the said works will not be,
or tend, to the injury of navigation:
Now, therefore, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
approve of the plan of a breastwork and jetty to be
constructed in Lyttelton Harbour; such plan being
marked M.D. 398, and deposited in the office of the
Marine Department, Wellington.

Powers under "Lunatics Act, 1868," delegated.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twentieth day of July, 1880.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the fourth section of "The
Lunatics Act, 1868" (hereinafter called "the
said Act"), it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor in Council from time to time to order
or direct that all or any of the powers, functions,
duties, and authorities vested in or required to be
performed by the Governor, or the Governor in
Council, or the Colonial Secretary, by the said Act,
within any province or other district of the colony,
shall be exercised or performed by the Superinten-
dent of any such province, or by any other person
the Governor may think fit, subject, however, to any
limitations or restrictions as he may think fit;
thereupon such functions, powers, duties, and au-
thorities may, by such Superintendent or other per-
son, be exercised or performed within the province or
other district of the colony specified in such order;
and in like manner to alter or revoke any such
order:
And whereas by an Order in Council bearing date
the tenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-nine, the powers granted to the Colonial
Secretary under the seventy-fourth and seventy-
fifth sections of the said Act were delegated to
George Lilly Mellish, to be exercised by him within
the Canterbury District:
And whereas it is expedient to revoke the delega-
tions of the powers granted to the said George Lilly
Mellish under the said sections, and to delegate the
said powers in manner hereinafter mentioned:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth, by this present order, revoke the afore-
said delegation to the said George Lilly Mellish, and
doth hereby delegate to
JOHN MARSHMAN
the powers granted to the Colonial Secretary under
the seventy-fourth and seventy-fifth sections of the
said Act, and doth hereby order that the said powers
shall be exercised by the said John Marshman within
the said Canterbury District.
