NOTICE.--EDWARD HENRY BUTLER, of Hobart
Town, in the Colony of Tasmania, an Attorney
of the Supreme Court of the said colony, has been
appointed by his Honor the Chief Justice a Com-
missioner of the Supreme Court of New Zea-
land, in the said colony, under the second section of
"The Commissioners of the Supreme Court Act,
1875," for the purpose of administering and taking
all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the
said section mentioned.

THE second half-yearly term will begin on Monday,
19th July, 1880. It is indispensable that intend-
ing pupil-boarders enter at the beginning of the
term.

Information as to terms, method of instruction, &c.,
may be obtained on application to the Director of
the Institution, the Secretaries and Inspectors of the
several Education Boards, and the undersigned.

Crown Lands Notices.

Gold-Mining Leases to be granted.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of
"The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations

made under that Act for the granting of leases for
gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is
intended to grant leases of Crown lands for gold-
mining purposes to the applicants specified in the
annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objec-
tions against such leases.

Objections to the granting of such leases, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and
lodged with the Warden at Ahaura on or before
the 28th day of July, 1880.

Copy of the applications made and plans annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office at Ahaura.

SCHEDULE.

APPLICANT: Patrick Hillary. Style under which it
is intended to conduct the business: "Hillary and
Company." 10 acres, at Orwell Creek Flat, in the
Nelson South-West Mining District.

Applicant: Michael Roche. Style under which it
is intended to conduct the business: "The Excelsior
Gold-Mining Company." 5 acres, at German Gully
No. 3, in the Nelson South-West Mining District.

Given under my hand, at Nelson, this eighth
day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty.

Agricultural Lease Certificate cancelled.

IT is hereby notified that the certificate of appli-
cation granted under the Agricultural Leases
Regulations to William Theodore Goldammer, for
Section 144, Block VII., Waihemo, has, with the
approval of the Land Board of the Otago Land Dis-
trict, been declared cancelled, and that the land is
now open for occupation as if no such certificate had
been issued.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this seventh
day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty.
