Defining District under "The Licensing Act, 1873."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Licensing Act, 1873," it
is, amongst other things, enacted that the
Governor shall, as soon as conveniently may be
after the passing of the said Act, by Proclamation
in the Government Gazette, define such territorial
divisions as he may think proper to be licensing dis-
tricts for the purposes of the said Act, and from time
to time may alter and re-define the boundaries of the
same:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance of the provisions of the hereinbefore re-
cited Act, and of every power and authority enabling
me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim, constitute, and
appoint that the terrritorial division the boundaries
whereof are defined and set forth in the Schedule
hereto shall be a licensing district for the purposes
of the said Aet; and that such district shall be known
by the name by which it is designated in the said
Sehedule.

And I do further proclaim and declare that three
members of the Licensing Court constituted for each
such district, inclusive of the Chairman, shall form a
quorum thereof.

SCHEDULE.
KUMARA DISTRICT.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Westland, commencing at a point on the eastern side
of the Goldsborough and Greenstone Road, distant
thirteen chains in a north-easterly direction from its
intersection by the southern side of Seddon Street;
thence north-westerly at a right angle with said road
for fifteen chains; thence south-westerly at a right
angle for thirty-three chains; thence south-easterly
at a right angle for thirty-five chains; thence north-
easterly parallel with north-western boundary for
thirty-three chains; and thence north-westerly
parallel with south-western boundary for twenty
chains to the commencing point: as the same is
delineated on the plan deposited in the Survey
Office, Hokitika.

Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distin-
guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
fifth day of May, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty.

Kumara Special Licensing District abolished.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Licensing Act 1873 Amend-
ment Act, 1874," it is, amongst other things,
provided that, in order to make provision for the
granting of licenses on gold fields and in outlying
districts, it shall be lawful for the Governor from
time to time to proclaim any district in any province
of the colony, the boundaries whereof shall be defined
in such Proclamation, to be a special licensing dis-
trict, and the boundaries of such district from time
to time to alter, and to abolish any such district:

And whereas by a Proclamation dated the nineteenth
day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
six, a special licensing district, called "The Kumara
Special Licensing District," was constituted within
the Provincial District of Westland: And whereas
by a Proclamation dated the thirty-first day of
October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six,
the boundaries of the said district were altered:

And whereas it is expedient to abolish the said
district:

Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in virtue of the powers conferred upon me by the
said recited Act, do hereby proclaim and declare
that, from and after the date hereof, the Kumara
Special Licensing District shall be abolished.

Plans for Deviation of River Channel and Training-
wall, Patea River, approved.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
fifth day of May, 1880.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS certain plans of a deviation of river
channel and training-wall on south-east bank
of the Patea River have been submitted by the Patea
Harbour Board for the approval of the Governor in
Council, in accordance with the provision of "The
Harbours Act, 1878," and it having been made to
appear to the Governor in Council that the said
works will not be, or tend, to the injury of navigation:

Now, therefore, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby
approve of plans of a deviation of river channel and
training-wall on south-east bank of the Patea River,
as shown on plans marked M.D. 353, 354, 356, and
357, the said plans being deposited in the office of the
Marine Department, Wellington; subject, however,
to certain alterations as described in a memorandum
from the Marine Engineer to the Secretary to the
Marine Department, dated the fourteenth day of
