Assessment District, hereinafter described; towards
the South-east by that district and the Waitaki Pro-
perty Assessment District, hereinafter described; and
again towards the South by the Southland Property
Assessment District, hereinafter described, to the
starting point in Awarua Bay: including adjacent
islands.
CANTERBURY PROPERTY ASSESSMENT DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand,
bounded towards the North-west by the summit of
the Southern Alps, from the Waitaki Property
Assessment District, hereinafter described, to the
saddle at Teremakau; thence by a right line to the
nearest source of the Hurunui River, thence by the
centre of that river to its junction with Lake Sumner,
thence by a right line to Mount Princess, thence by
a right line to Top House; towards the North-east
and North by a right line to Barefell Pass, thence by
the centre of the Guide River to its confluence with
the Acheron River, thence by the centre of that river
to its confluence with the Clarence River, thence by
the centre of that river to the ocean; towards the
South-east by the ocean to the mouth of the Rangi-
tata River; and towards the South-west by the
Waitaki Property Assessment District, hereinafter
described, to starting point on Southern Alps.
WAITAKI PROPERTY ASSESSMENT DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand,
bounded towards the North-west by the summit of
the Southern Alps, from Mount Aspiring to Two
Thumbs Range; towards the North-east by said
range to the source of Forest Creek, thence by the
centre of said creek to the Rangitata River, thence
by that river to the ocean; towards the South-east
by the ocean to Shag Point; towards the South-west
by the Otago Property Assessment District, herein-
after described; and towards the South by said
district and the Southland Property Assessment
District, hereinafter described, to the starting point.
OTAGO PROPERTY ASSESSMENT DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand,
bounded towards the West by the Southland Pro-
perty Assessment District, hereinafter described,
from Chasland's Mistake to its north-east corner
at Lake Wanaka; towards the North by a line
being the production of the northern boundary line
of the said district to the range extending from
Mount Ward to Longslip Hill, thence towards the
North-east by the summit of the said range to Long-
slip Hill, thence to Lindis Pass, thence along the
summit of the range to Mount St. Bathans, thence
due east to a point on the Mount Ida and Hawkdun
Mountains, thence along the said mountains to
Kyeburn Hill, thence through Maruwenua Pass
along the summit of the Kakanui Mountains to a
point on said mountains due east of the north-eastern
corner of Section No. 3 of Block VIII., Waihemo
Survey District; thence by a right line to said
corner, thence by a line being the north-east boun-
dary of the Waihemo Hundred, and that line pro-
duced across a road, to Section No. 2 of Block V.,
Waihemo Survey District; thence by lines and the
Waianakarua River, being the northern and north-
eastern boundaries of Blocks V. and III. of said
Waihemo District to Block XV., Moeraki Survey
District; thence by said block to its south-eastern
corner, thence by the watershed of the Blue Moun-
tains and the Horse Range to the ocean; and towards
the East and South by the ocean to starting point:
including adjacent islands.

SOUTHLAND PROPERTY ASSESSMENT DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand,
bounded towards the North by a right line from the
mouth of the Awarua Riverto Mount Aspiring, thence
by a right line drawn in the direction of the issue of
the Ohau branch of the River Waitaki from Lake
Ohau to the eastern shore of Lake Wanaka; towards
the East by said shore and the left bank of the
Clutha River to a point on said bank where a due
north line through Trig. Station C, Mount Iron,
intersects it; thence by that line through said Trig.
Station to the Cardrona River on northern boundary
of Block I., Lower Wanaka Survey District; thence
by that block to its south-eastern corner, thence by
a right line to Mount Pisa, thence by a right line to
the source of the Kirtleburn, thence by the said
Kirtleburn to the Kawarau River, thence by the
centre of the said river to a point opposite a leading
ridge from Double Cone, near the confluence of the
Nevis; thence by said leading ridge to Double Cone,
thence along the summit of the Hector Range to
Lorn Peak, thence by a right line to Rocky Mount,
thence by a line due east from said Rocky Mount to
the Umbrella Range, thence by the summit of said
range to Black Umbrella Mountain, thence by a right
line to the source of the Leithen River, thence by the
centre of that river to a point due north of the
western boundary line of the Glenkenich Survey
District, thence by a right line to and by said
boundary line to the south-west corner of Glenkenich
Survey District, thence by the said district to the
boundary line between the Waipahee and Waikaka
Survey Districts, thence due south along said
boundary line to a point in Section 4 of Block XI.,
Waipahee Survey District, where a road line crosses
that section, thence by that road line to the Wai-
pahi River, thence by the centre of that river to its
source, thence by a right line to Catlin's Cone, thence
along the summit of the Watershed over Bleak Hill
to Blackhorn, thence by a right line from Blackhorn
to Chasland's Mistake; and towards the South and
West by the ocean to the mouth of the Awarua
River, the starting point: including Stewart, Ruapuka,
and adjacent islands.

Act, 1879."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
sixth day of April, 1880.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of all the powers vested
in him by "The Property Assessment Act, 1879,"
and all other authorities in that behalf enabling him,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the
following regulations for the purposes of the said
Act, that is to say, β
REGULATIONS.

The oath of secrecy and fidelity to be taken and
subscribed by the Commissioner, and every Deputy
Commissioner and Reviewer, before he begins to act
in the execution of "The Property Assessment Act,
1879," shall be in the form set forth in the First
Schedule hereto. -
The like oath shall be taken and subscribed by
officers, clerks, and other persons employed under
the said Act.
