Dividing the Colony into Districts under "The
Property Assessment Act, 1879."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirty-first day of March, 1880.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
W HEREAS by the third section of "The Property
Assessment Act, 1879," it is enacted that the
Governor in Council shall divide the colony into
districts for the purposes of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of New Zealand, do hereby
order and declare that the Colony of New Zealand
shall be divided into eight districts, as described in
the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND PROPERTY ASSESSMENT DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Colony of New Zealand,
bounded towards the West, North, and East by the
ocean, from the mouth of the Mokau River on the
West Coast to Cape Runaway on East Coast; thence
towards the South-east by a right line to Mount Hiku-
rangi, and thence by right lines from hill to hill
along the summit of the watershed between the Bay
of Plenty and the East Coast to Mount Maungapo-
hatu, thence by a right line to Puketapu, thence by
a right line to the most northerly point of the Wai-
karemoana Lake, thence by a right line to the
crossing of the Rangataiki River by the main road
from Napier to Taupo, thence by a right line to the
eastern boundary of the Tauhara South Block, thence
by the Taharua River to the 39th parallel of south
latitude; towards the South by that parallel to Tuhua
River; again towards the West by that river and the
Ongaruhe River to its source, thence by a right line
to Mount Rangitoto; again towards the South by a
right line to the source of the Mokau River, thence
by the centre of that river to its mouth, the starting
point: including adjacent islands.
HAWKE'S BAY PROPERTY ASSESSMENT DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand,
bounded towards the North and East by the ocean,
from Cape Runaway to the mouth of the Waimata
Stream; towards the South by the centre of that
stream to its source, thence by a right line to
Trig. Station No. 41A, thence by a right line to
Trig. Station on Whahatuaro, thence by a right line
to the junction of the Manawatu and Tiraumea
Rivers, and thence by the centre of the said
Manawatu River to the Manawatu Gorge; towards
the West by the Ruahine Range to latitude
39° 30′ South; thence by a right line to latitude
39° South, at 176° 30′ East longitude; again towards
the South by the 39th parallel to the Auckland Pro-
perty Assessment District before described; and again
towards the West by said district to Cape Runaway,
the starting point: including adjacent islands.
WELLINGTON PROPERTY ASSESSMENT DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand,
bounded towards the North and East by the Auck-
land and Hawke's Bay Property Assessment Districts,
before described, from the mouth of the Mokau
River to the mouth of the Waimata Stream; again
towards the East and towards the South and West
by the ocean to the mouth of the Mokau River, the
starting point: including the Chatham and adjacent
islands.
NELSON PROPERTY ASSESSMENT DISTRICT.
All that area in the Colony of New Zealand,
bounded towards the North-west, North, and East
