George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
Dunedin, this seventeenth day of Febru-
ary, in the year of our Lord one thousand

Railway Hurunui to Waitaki, Branch Line from
Washdyke to Opawa, Fairlie Creek, and Burke's
Pass (Albury Downs Section).

Mount Cook Road District, County of Geraldine,
Provincial District of Canterbury, Colony of New
Zealand; and including all adjoining and interven-
ing places, lands, roads, reserves, streams, rivers, and
watercourses; in the manner delineated on the plan
marked P.W.D. 7445, signed by the Honorable
Richard Oliver, Minister for Public Works, and
deposited in the office of the Registrar of the
Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the Provincial
District of Cauterbury; the total length being 9
miles 10 chains or thereabouts.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the branch line of railway Wash-
dyke to Opawa, Fairlie Creek, and Burke's
Pass, from the main line Hurunui to Waitaki
Railway, is one of the railways specified in the
First Schedule to "The Public Works Act, 1879,"
and which Act is therein declared to be a special
Act authorizing the construction of such railway;
and the same is unfinished, and it has been
determined to construct and maintain a further
portion of such railway:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
exercise and in pursuance of the powers and authori-
ties conferred on me by sections one hundred and
twenty-two, one hundred and twenty-three, one
hundred and twenty-four, and one hundred and
twenty-five of "The Public Works Act, 1876," and
in exercise of every other power and authority
enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the middle line of the said portion of
the said railway shall be from a point situate in
Rural Section number eleven thousand five hundred
and ninety-three, to a point in Reserve one thousand
eight hundred and forty, all within the Mount Cook
Road District, County of Geraldine, Provincial Dis-
trict of Canterbury, Colony of New Zealand, as
defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto. The
said middle line and the land through which the
same passes are set forth in the map and plan
marked P.W.D. 7445, and authenticated for the
purposes of this Proclamation by the signature of
the Honorable Richard Oliver, Minister for
Public Works, and which said map and plan is de-
posited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme
Court at Christchurch, in the Provincial District
of Canterbury.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point situate in Rural Section
No. 11593, the said point being the termination of a
portion of the Opawa Branch Extension Railway, as
described in a Proclamation dated the 14th June,
1879, and published in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 67, of the 19th June, 1879; proceeding thence
in a generally north-westerly direction for a distance
of 9 miles 10 chains or thereabouts, and passing in,
into, through, or over the following lands, &c.: Rural
Sections Nos. 11593, 11608, 20518, 6191, 20517, and
terminating at a point in Reserve 1840, all within

WHEREAS the railway from Wellington to
Napier is one of the railways specified in the
First Schedule to "The Public Works Act, 1879,"
and which Act is therein declared to be a special
Act authorizing the construction of such railway,
and the same is unfinished, and it has been deter-
mined to construct and maintain a further portion of
such railway:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
exercise and in pursuance of the powers and authorities
conferred on me by sections one hundred and twenty-
two, one hundred and twenty-three, one hundred
and twenty-four, and one hundred and twenty-five
of "The Public Works Act, 1876," and in exercise
of every other power and authority enabling me in
that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
middle line of the said further portion of the said rail-
way shall be from a point situate twelve chains south
of the Kopua Station, to a point fifty-four chains south
of the Kopua Station aforesaid, all within the County
of Waipawa, Provincial District of Hawke's Bay.
The said middle line and the land through which the
same passes are set forth in the map and plan marked
P.W.D. 7412, and authenticated for the purposes
of this Proclamation by the signature of the Honor-
able Richard Oliver, Minister for Public Works, and
which said map and plan is deposited in the office of
the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Napier, in
the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point situate on the line of railway
12 chains south of the Kopua Railway Station, on the
railway from Napier to a junction with the railway
from New Plymouth to Waitara, as described in a
Proclamation dated the 23rd November, 1877, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 96, of
the 29th November, 1877; proceeding thence in a
generally southerly direction for a distance of 42
chains or thereabouts, and passing over Native land,
and terminating at a point on the railway line afore.
