Defining the Middle Line of further Portion of the
Railway, Hurunui to Waitaki, Branch Line from
Rolleston to Springfield Colliery (Springfield
Section).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the branch line of railway, Rolleston
to Springfield Colliery, from the main line
Hurunui to Waitaki Railway, is one of the lines
specified in the First Schedule to "The Public Works
Act, 1879," and which Act is therein declared to be
a special Act authorizing the construction of such
railway; and the same is unfinished, and it has been
determined to construct and maintain a further por-
tion of such railway:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, in exercise and in pursuance of the powers and
authorities conferred on me by sections one hundred
and twenty-two, one hundred and twenty-three, one
hundred and twenty-four, and one hundred and
twenty-five of "The Public Works Act, 1876," and
in exercise of every other power and authority
enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the middle line of the said further por-
tion of the said railway shall be from a point situate
on the Coal Tramway Reserve, opposite Section num-
ber nine thousand one hundred and forty-one, East
Malvern Road District, to a point in Section number
twenty thousand five hundred and sixteen, in the
Malvern Road District, County of Selwyn, Provin-
cial District of Canterbury, Colony of New Zealand,
as defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
The said middle line and the land through which the
same passes are set forth in the map and plan
marked P.W.D. 7519, and authenticated for the pur-
poses of this Proclamation by the signature of the
Honorable John Hall, Minister acting for the
Minister for Public Works, and which said map and
plan is deposited in the office of the Registrar of the
Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the Provincial
District of Canterbury.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point situate on the Coal Tram-
way Reserve, the said point being the termination of
a portion of the railway from Rolleston to Malvern
Hills, as described in a Proclamation dated the 11th
April, 1872, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 17, of the 16th April, 1872, pro-
ceeding thence in a generally north-westerly and
southerly direction for a distance of 7 miles 22
chains or thereabouts, and passing in, into, through,
or over the following lands, &c.: Coal Tramway
Reserve, in the East Malvern Road District, and the
Coal Tramway Reserve, and Sections Nos. 14536,
6471, 21139, Reserve No. 425, and terminating at a
point in Section No. 20516 in Malvern Road District,
all within the County of Selwyn, Provincial District
of Canterbury, Colony of New Zealand, and including
all adjoining and intervening places, lands, roads, re-
serves, streams, rivers, and watercourses; in the man-
ner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 7519,
signed by the Honorable John Hall, Minister acting
for the Minister for Public Works, and deposited in
the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court
at Christchurch, in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury.

guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony

and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
Dunedin, this seventeenth day of Febru-
ary, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and eighty.

WHEREAS the railway from Waikato to the
Thames is one of the railways specified in the
First Schedule to "The Public Works Act, 1879,"
and which Act is therein declared to be a special
Act, authorizing the construction of such railway;
and the same is unfinished, and it has been determined
to construct and maintain a further portion of such
railway:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
exercise and in pursuance of the powers and au-
thorities conferred on me by sections one hundred
and twenty-two, one hundred and twenty-three, one
hundred and twenty-four, and one hundred and
twenty-five of "The Public Works Act, 1876," and
in exercise of every other power and authority

declare that the middle line of the said further por-
tion of the said railway shall be from a point situate
in the Waikato Swamp Company's land, Kirikiriroa
Highway District, Parish of Kirikiriroa, fifty-five
chains or thereabouts distant from the south-western
boundary of said land, to a point in Motumaoho
number one (Native block), Waitoa Highway Dis-
trict, one and a half miles distant from the south-
western boundary line of said block, all within the
Provincial District of Auckland, Colony of New
Zealand, as defined and set forth in the Schedule
hereto. The said middle line and the land through
which the same passes are set forth in the map and
plan marked P.W.D. 7515, and authenticated for
the purposes of this Proclamation by the signature
of the Honorable Richard Oliver, Minister for
Public Works, and which said map and plan is de-
posited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme
Court at Auckland, in the Provincial District of
Auckland.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point situate in the Waikato
Swamp Company's land, Kirikiriroa Highway Dis-
trict, Parish of Kirikiriroa, 55 chains or thereabouts
distant from the south-western boundary of said
land, the said point being the termination of a por-
tion of the railway from Waikato to the Thames, as
described in a Proclamation dated the 8th April, 1879,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 41, of
the 17th April, 1879; and proceeding thence in a
generally north-easterly direction for a distance of 9
miles or thereabouts, and passing in, into, through,
or over the following lands, &c.: Waikato Swamp
Company's land, and terminating at a point in
Motumaoho No. 1 (Native Block), Waitoa Highway
District, 1 miles distant from the south-western
boundary line of said block; all within the Provin-
cial District of Auckland, Colony of New Zealand;
and including all adjoining and intervening places,
lands, roads, reserves, streams, rivers, and water-
courses, in the manner delineated on the plan
marked P.W.D. 7515, signed by the Honorable
