Regulations for the Licensing and Management of
Slaughterhouses and Inspection thereof, and of Cattle
intended for Slaughter, in the County of Eden.

THE following regulations made by the Bench of
Magistrates under "The Slaughterhouses Act,
1877," for the County of Eden, are published for
general information.
THOMAS DICK.
In pursuance of the provisions of "The Slaughter-
houses Act, 1877," the Bench of Magistrates of the
County of Eden do hereby order as follows, that is to
say, -
Interpretation.
- Wherever in these regulations any of the terms
mentioned in section 5 of the said Act are used,
such terms shall, in the construction hereof, have the
meaning to them assigned by the said section of the
said Act as amended by the second section of "The
Slaughterhouses Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1879,"
unless there be something in the context or subject-
matter repugnant thereto.
Fee for Slaughterhouse License.
2. There shall he paid to the Clerk of the Bench
in respect of every license issued by the Bench for
a slaughterhouse the sum of ten pounds, and a like
sum in respect of the renewal of such licenses.
New Licenses.
3. Applications for new licenses shall be in the
form given in the Schedule hereto annexed, and shall
be posted or delivered to the Clerk to the Bench at
least five weeks before the day fixed for hearing the
same.
Hearing Applications for New Licenses.
4. On receipt of the application as aforesaid, the
Resident Magistrate having jurisdiction to hear the
said application shall appoint a time and place for
the hearing thereof, and shall return the application
with notification of time and place of hearing to the
applicant: Provided that the date fixed for hearing
the application shall allow the applicant time to\nadvertise notice as required by section 24 of the said
Act.
Renewal of Licenses.
5. Every applicant for the renewal of any license
shall deposit an application in writing, in the form
given in the Schedule annexed, with the Clerk to the
Bench, at least fourteen clear days before the sitting
of the Bench at which such application for renewal
shall be heard and determined.
Transfer of License.
6. Any license to slaughter may be transferred by
the Bench to another licensee on payment of a sum
of two pounds, the same notice to be given as is
hereinbefore provided in the case of application for
renewals.
