First Meeting of Ratepayers of the Pakowhai and
Waitangi Highway District, County of Hawke's
Bay.

A. GORDON, Governor.

WHEREAS His Excellency the Governor has
received a requisition signed by five voters in
the Pakowhai and Waitangi Highway District, in
the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay, requesting
him to bring "The Highways Act, 1871," into opera-
tion in the said highway district:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
exercise of the powers vested in me by the said
"Highways Act, 1871," and by "The Abolition of
Provinces Act, 1875," do, by this notification, bring
the said first-mentioned Act into operation in the
said Pakowhai and Waitangi Highway District; and
do declare that the first meeting of ratepayers under
the said "Highways Act, 1871," shall be held at
the Farndon Hotel on the eighth day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty, at two
o'clock in the afternoon.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this eleventh day of December,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty.

Certain Powers conferred under "The Licensed
Auctioneers Ordinance, 1862."

A. GORDON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and
authorities enabling me in that behalf I, Arthur
Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of New Zealand, do
hereby appoint the Collector or other Principal
Officer of Customs for the time being at each port of
entry in the Provincial District of Otago to have
district, all the powers, duties, and functions which
immediately before the abolition of the province
formerly included within the said district were vested
in, or might be exercised or performed by, the
Superintendent of the said province, under the pro-
visions of an Ordinance of the Provincial Council of
the said province, shortly intituled "The Licensed
Auctioneers Ordinance, 1862."

And I do hereby further declare that the powers
hereby conferred upon such persons are in addition
to, and not in restriction or abridgment of, the
powers already conferred upon such persons by
virtue of a warrant under the hand of His Excel-
lency the Governor, bearing date the nineteenth day
of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this thirteenth day of De-
cember, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty.

Trustee appointed for Waddington Cemetery.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in me by the fourth section
of "The Cemeteries Management Act, 1877," I,
Arther Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

WILLIAM LILLY
to be a Trustee, in place of William Waddington,
resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of
the Waddington Public Cemetery, in conjunction
with the other persons appointed by warrant under
the hand of His Excellency the Governor on the
ninth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this fourteenth day of Decem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty.
