ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
fourteenth day of December, 1880.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in
him by "The Electric Telegraph Act, 1875," and
of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, His
Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand doth, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, make the regu-
lation contained in the Schedule hereto in relation
to the charges to be made for the transmission of
Press telegrams; and, in further pursuance and exer-
cise of the said powers, and with the like advice and
consent as aforesaid, doth hereby order and declare
that such regulation shall take effect on and after
the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-one, and that it shall be read with and
form part of the regulations now in force, in sub-
stitution of any previous regulation in force of a
similar purport.

SCHEDULE.

PRESS TELEGRAMS, FROM ANY STATION TO ANY
STATION.

THE following shall be the charges to be paid in
respect of the transmission of telegrams, generally
known as "Press telegrams," on and after the 1st
January, 1881:-

Between the Hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Week-days.

For the first 10 words or fraction of 10 words

Evening Rates.

Between the hours of 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. (week-days),
exclusive of Saturdays, when the office will close at
10 p.m., for every 100 words or fraction of 100
words

Between the hours of 11 p.m. and midnight, for every
100 words or fraction of 100 words
... 0 8

After midnight, if kept open by special arrangement,
for every 100 words or fraction of 100 words

On Sundays.

Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 10.30 a.m., and 5
p.m. and 5.30 p.m., for every 100 words or fraction
of 100 words

After 5.30 p.m., if kept open by special arrangement,

Exceptions to the above Scale of Charges.

During the session of Parliament, Press messages
to be received at the Wellington office until 1 a.m.
at the 6d. rate, and between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. at the
8d. rate.

Newspapers publishing before 5 p.m. will be
allowed to receive at any period of the day telegrams
amounting in the aggregate to 1,000 words during
the recess and 1,500 words during the session of
Parliament, and will be charged for the same at
evening rates. Any excess over 1,000 and 1,500
words respectively to be paid for at the rates in force
between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
fourteenth day of December, 1880.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

HEREAS by the thirty-ninth section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Land Board, subject to the approval of
the Governor, at any time and from time to time, to
declare, by notice in the Gazette, that any land not
already classified shall belong to either of the classes
referred to in the thirty-eighth section of the said
Act; and also that any land shall cease to belong to
either of the said classes, provided that no land which
has been declared to be town or suburban land shall
cease to belong to such classes respectively, without
the consent previously obtained of the Governor in
Council:

And whereas the Land Board of Otago is desirous
of declaring that the lands specified in the Schedule
hereto, which have been heretofore classed as town
lands, shall cease to belong to such class, and shall
be classed as suburban lands:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the colony, and in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in
him by the said Act, doth hereby consent to the
Land Board aforesaid declaring that the lands speci-
fied in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be classed
as town lands, and doth hereby approve and consent
to the said Board declaring that such lands shall be
classed as suburban lands.

authorities vested in me by the third section
of "The Onehunga Water Reserves Act, 1879," I,
Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby temporarily re-
serve from sale the land in the Provincial District
of Auckland described in the Schedule hereunder
written, for the purposes in the said Schedule speci-
fied.
