MAY IT PLEASE YOUR EXCELLENCY, -
In compliance with the instructions conveyed by
the Commission of the 3rd September, 1872, I have
the honor to state that, since the publication of my
last report, I have examined all applications for the
New Zealand War Medal which were from time to
time referred to me; and, having admitted the cor-
rectness of the claims of both officers and men, whose
names are recorded in the enclosed Rolls (A and B),
I now most respectfully submit my progress report
for your Excellency's consideration, with a view to
their being published in the usual manner.

Caution against Private Leasing of Native Reserves.

Wellington, 2nd December, 1880.
WHEREAS it has been brought to the knowledge
of the Government that certain persons have
been negotiating with the Natives of the West Coast
between Whanganui and Taranaki for leases or other
contracts for the occupation of lands reserved or to
be reserved for the benefit of the said Natives:
Notice is hereby given that any persons entering
into such leases or contracts will do so at their peril,
and that such leases or contracts are void in law, and
will not be recognized by the Government.
Surveyors are cautioned against executing any
surveys of such reserves or parts thereof without
express authority from the Government.

SPENCER GULF.-CHANNEL LEADING TO PORT
AUGUSTA.-SNAPPER POINT.
NOTICE is hereby given that a tub buoy, surmounted
with staff and ball painted red, has been placed on a
patch having 14 feet on it at low-water springs. It
lies about 120 fathoms from the eastern bank, and
200 fathoms south of Snapper Point.

ADDITIONAL LIGHTS, FRANCIS CHANNEL, BRISBANE
RIVER.
ON and after this date, three white lights will be
exhibited in Francis Channel, viz.: One on the
corner beacon below the light-ship; one on the
double beacon in the bend; and one on the corner
beacon at the south-east end of the outer cutting.
