Defining the Middle Line of Portion of the Railway,
Canterbury Interior Main Line, Oxford to Temuka
(Northern Portion).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the railway, Canterbury Interior
Main Line, Oxford to Temuka, is one of the
railways specified in "The Immigration and Public
Works Appropriation Act, 1878," and which Act is
therein declared to be a special Act for the said rail-
way within the meaning of "The Public Works Act,
1876:" And whereas it has been determined to
construct and maintain a portion of such railway:
Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
exercise and in pursuance of the powers and authori-
ties conferred on me by sections one hundred and
twenty-two, one hundred and twenty-three, one hun-
dred and twenty-four, and one hundred and twenty-
five of "The Public Works Act, 1876," and in exer-
cise of every other power and authority enabling me
in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the middle line of the said portion of the said railway
shall be from a point in Section number two hundred
and one in the Oxford Road District, to a point in
Road Reserve number one thousand and eighty-one,
all within the Provincial District of Canterbury,
Colony of New Zealand, as defined and set forth in
the Schedule hereto. The said middle line and the
land through which the same passes are set forth in
the map and plan marked P.W.D. 7145, and authen-
ticated for the purposes of this Proclamation by the
signature of the Honorable James Macandrew, Min-
ister for Public Works, and which said map and plan
is deposited in the office of the Registrar of the
Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the Provincial
District of Canterbury.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point in Section No. 201, the said
point being within the limits of deviation of a portion
of the railway from Rangiora to Oxford, as described
in a Proclamation dated the 20th day of April, 1872,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 19, of
24th April, 1872; proceeding thence in a generally
westerly and south-westerly direction for a distance
of 5 miles 40 chains or thereabouts, and passing in,
into, through, or over the following lands, &c.: Oxford
Road District, Sections Nos. 201, 411, 678, 896, 1086,
1964, 5972, 7153, 27625, 27560, 23918, 20431, 20447,
22050; and terminating at a point in Road Reserve No.
1081; all within the Provincial District of Canterbury,
Colony of New Zealand; including all adjoining and
intervening places, lands, roads, reserves, streams,
rivers, and watercourses; in the manner delineated
on the map and plan marked P.W.D. 7145, signed
by the Honorable James Macandrew, Minister for
Public Works, deposited in the office of the Registrar
of the Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the Pro-
vincial District of Canterbury; the total length being
5 miles or thereabouts.

Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distin-
guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
sixth day of August, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-nine.

Main Line, Oxford to Temuka, is one of the
railways specified in "The Immigration and Public
Works Appropriation Act, 1878," and which Act is
therein declared to be a special Act for the said rail-
way within the meaning of "The Public Works Act,
1876:" And whereas it has been determined to
construct and maintain a portion of such railway:

and the land through which the same passes are set
forth in the map and plan marked P. W.D. 7144, and
authenticated for the purposes of this Proclamation
by the signature of the Honorable James Macandrew,
Minister for Public Works, and which said map and
plan is deposited in the office of the Registrar of the
Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the Provincial
District of Canterbury.

SCHEDULE.

way Station, the said point being within the limits of
deviation of portion of the railway from Timaru to
Temuka, as described in the Proclamation dated the
14th day of June, 1871, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 33, of 14th June, 1871; pro-
ceeding thence in a generally north-westerly and
south-westerly direction for a distance of 10 miles
or thereabouts, and passing in, into, through, or
over the following lands, &c.: Temuka Road District,
Rural Sections Nos. 2641, 2735, 22955, 20377, 22944,
15577, 6283, 6595, 7100, 6927, 6937, and 7662;
Geraldine Road District, Rural Sections Nos. 8032,
7921, 8034, 8317; and terminating at a point in
Rural Section 10159; all within the Provincial Dis-
trict of Canterbury, Colony of New Zealand; and
including all adjoining and intervening places, lands,
roads, reserves, streams, rivers, and watercourses;
in the manner delineated on the map and plan
marked P.W.D. 7144, signed by the Honorable James
Macandrew, Minister for Public Works, deposited in
the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
Christchurch, in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury; the total length being 10 miles or there-
abouts.
