Special Mining District under section 66 of "The
Mines Act, 1877."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section sixty-six of "The Mines
Act, 1877," power is given to the Governor to
proclaim special mining districts for the pre-emption
of homesteads, and for the purposes contemplated in
the said section :

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago,
containing by estimation seven thousand seven hun-
dred (7,700) acres, more or less, situate in the
Blackstone, Idaburn, and Naseby Survey Districts.
Bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on
Hill's Creek, due West of Trig. Station D., Black-
stone District; thence due East through Trig. Station
D. aforesaid to the north-western boundary of Sec-
tion 1, Idaburn District; thence around the north-
western and north-eastern boundaries of said section
1, to its most eastern corner; thence in a straight
line to Trig. Station D., Idaburn District; thence in
a South-westerly direction bearing 221Β° 55' 16", to
Trig. Station E., Naseby District; thence in a North-
westerly direction to Trig. Station H., Blackstone
District; thence due West to Hill's Creek; thence
in a Northerly direction along Hill's Creek, to the
starting point.

Given under the hand of His Excellency
James Prendergast, Esquire, Adminis-
trator of the Government in and over
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth
day of March, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
nine.

Division of Borough of Mornington into Wards, under
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1876," section twenty-one, it is enacted
that, if not less than one-fourth of the burgesses of
a borough petition the Governor praying him to
divide such borough into wards, the Governor may,
by Proclamation, divide such borough into not less
than three nor more than six wards, and shall in such
Proclamation assign such names and boundaries to
each ward as he thinks fit: And whereas not less
than one-fourth of the burgesses of the Borough of
Mornington have petitioned me to divide such borough
into wards
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Ad-
ministrator of the Government of the Colony of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the herein-
before recited authority, do hereby proclaim and de-
clare that the Borough of Mornington shall be and
the same is hereby divided into three wards, having the
names mentioned in the first column of the Schedule
hereto; and that the boundaries of such wards shall
be those set forth in the second column of the said
Schedule opposite the name of each ward respec-
tively.

SCHEDULE.

Name of Ward. Boundaries of Ward.

First Ward ... All that area commencing at a point formed
by the intersection of the centre line of
Randall Avenue with the western side
of a district road known as Hawthorn
Road, and bounded thence towards
South-south-west by a line at right angles
to the eastern boundary of Block IX.,
Dunedin and East Taieri Survey Dis-
trict; towards the North-west and West-
north-west by the Lower Kaikorai Sur-
vey District to the southern angle of
Section 6, Block V., said Survey Dis-
trict; thence towards the North-north-
east by part of said Block IX., a road
line, and Section 87, Block VI., Town
District; towards the East-south-east
and East-north-east by the Town Belt
of Dunedin, and Allotments 1, 24, Arthur
Street, 25, 43, John Street, 44, Township
of West Dunedin; again towards the
North-west by southern boundary of
Allotment 44 to its intersection with
centre line of Glen Avenue; and towards
East-south-east by centre line of Glen
Avenue to its intersection with centre
line of Argyle Street; again towards
the South-south-west by centre line of
Argyle Street to its intersection with
centre line of a district road known as
Elgin Road; thence towards the West-
north-west by the centre line of said
Elgin Road to its intersection with Elgin
Avenue; thence towards the South-
south-west by the centre line of said
Elgin Avenue to its intersection with
the centre line of said Randall Avenue;
thence towards South-west by the centre
line of said Randall Avenue, to com-
mencing point.

Second Ward ... All that area commencing at the south-
eastern corner of Allotment 10, Block II.,
Township of Mornington, and bounded
thence towards the North-north-east and
North-east by the Town Belt of Dunedin,
to the centre of the Main South Road;
thence towards the East-south-east and
South by the centre of said main South
Road to the intersection of the western
boundary of Section 4, Block VI., Town
District; thence towards the South-west
by the western boundary line of said
Section 4 to the westernmost corner of
said section; thence towards the South-
east by Sections 5, 6, 7, a road line, 8, 9,
10, 11, a road line, 18, 19, and 22, all of
Block VI., Town District; thence towards
the West-north-west by western boundary
of Section 63 to the north-western corner
of said Section 63; thence towards the
North-north-west by the north-western
boundary of said section to its inter-
section with the centre line of Neidpath
Road; thence towards West-north-west
by centre line of said Neidpath Road and
Glen Avenue to the south-eastern boun-
dary of Allotment 44, of West Dunedin;
thence again towards the South-east by
the north-western boundary line of James
Street to the southern corner of said
Allotment 44; and thence again towards
West-north-west by Allotments 11, 10,
