or imported into the colony from any of the said
countries or places at any port other than the Port
of Brisbane.
2. No cattle, sheep, or pigs shall be introduced
from any of the said countries or places, if at the
time of shipment the infectious or contagious disease
called rinderpest, or any infectious or contagious
disease not known in Australia other than the disease
called foot-and-mouth disease, exists in such country
or place, or if there are more than one hundred
centres of the last-named disease existing in such
country or place at the time of shipment.
3. All cattle, sheep, or pigs intended to be shipped
from any of the said countries or places to Queens-
land shall be conveyed direct from the place from
which they start to the port of shipment, and shall
not while travelling be placed in any stable, place,
truck, or conveyance in which any cattle, sheep, pigs,
or goats have been kept or conveyed within the sixty
days then next preceding.
4. All cattle, sheep, or pigs intended to be shipped
from any of the said countries or places to Queens-
land, and all other animals put or intended to be put
on board of the ship by which such cattle, sheep,
or pigs are shipped, whether for the use of the
crew or passengers or otherwise, shall, before being
shipped, be inspected by a duly-qualified veterinary
surgeon, appointed to act for this colony in that
behalf.
5. No cattle, sheep, or pigs shall be shipped from
any of such countries or places for exportation to
Queensland, unless—
(1.) They have been in the country from which
they are intended to be shipped for a
period of not less than sixty days;
(2.) They are free from infection;
(3.) They have not within the sixty days then
next preceding been in contact with or
exposed to infection; and
(4.) All the conditions hereinbefore specified
have been duly complied with.
6. The exporter or shipper of any such cattle,
sheep, or pigs shall produce to the veterinary surgeon
inspecting them a certificate from the owner or seller
of the same, to the effect that the foregoing con-
ditions have been complied with.
7. If the inspecting veterinary surgeon be satisfied
that all the cattle, sheep, or pigs intended to be
shipped for the colony, and all other animals put on
board the same ship, are free from infection, and that
all the requirements of this Proclamation have, up to
that time, been duly complied with, he shall grant a
certificate to that effect in the form of Schedule A
hereto, and shall deliver such certificate to the master
of the ship.
8. The skins of all cattle, sheep, or other animals,
that may die or be slaughtered on board the ship
during the voyage shall either be thrown overboard
or salted and securely packed in casks or cases, and
shall not be landed in Queensland.
9. The master of the ship on which any cattle,
sheep, or pigs intended to be introduced or imported
into Queensland are carried, and some person who
shall be appointed to attend on them, shall, during
the voyage, make daily entry, in a book kept for that
purpose, of the state of health of each of such cattle,
sheep, and pigs, and of any other cattle, sheep, or pigs
on board the ship, and shall deliver such book to the
officer of Customs first boarding such vessel on her
arrival at the Port of Brisbane, together with a decla-
ration in the form of Schedule B hereto, and the
certificates and all other documents relating to such
cattle, sheep, or pigs as hereinbefore provided.
10. On the arrival of the ship from any of the said
countries or places at the Port of Brisbane, with
cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals on board, the
master shall give immediate notice of their arrival to
the Commissioner or Commissioners for "The Diseased
Animals Act."
11. All such cattle, sheep, or pigs, or other animals
shall forthwith be examined by a veterinary surgeon
duly appointed in that behalf, and by the said Com-
missioner or Commissioners, and such veterinary
surgeon and Commissioner or Commissioners shall
ascertain, by inspection, inquiry, and such other
means as may be necessary, whether or not such
cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals, or any of them,
are infected, and if it be found that none of them is
infected shall grant a certificate accordingly; and no
cattle, sheep, or pigs, or other animals shall be landed
from the ship until such certificate shall have been
granted in respect of them.
12. If any cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals
on board the ship be found to be infected, they
shall be forthwith destroyed, whether intended to be
landed or not.
13. All cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals found
on inspection to be free from infection shall be
washed and disinfected as the Commissioner or Com-
missioners shall direct, and shall be conveyed by
water at the importer's expense to the quarantine
station set apart for imported stock.
14. No fodder put on board of the ship, with or
for the use of any cattle, sheep, pigs, or other
animals, shall be landed in this colony.
15. All fittings used on board of the importing
ship for, with, or about any cattle, sheep, pigs, or
other animals, and all effects belonging to their
attendants, shall be disinfected as the Commissioner
or Commissioners may direct.
16. Imported cattle, sheep, or pigs intended to be
landed in Queensland shall remain in quarantine for
a period of not less than ninety days, during which
time they shall be washed and disinfected as the Com-
missioner or Commissioners shall direct, and such
cattle, sheep, or pigs shall not be released from
quarantine until they shall have been examined by a
veterinary surgeon and Commissioner and declared to
be free from infection, nor until the owner or im-
porter shall have proved to the satisfaction of the
Commissioner or Commissioners that all the conditions
of this Proclamation have been complied with, and
shall have paid all charges incurred in connection
with the detention of such sheep, cattle, or pigs in
quarantine.
17. All cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals put on
board of any ship for the use of the crew or passen-
gers, and removed to quarantine, shall remain there
until the vessel is about to leave the port, when they
may be re-shipped, on the order of the Commissioner
or Commissioners, at the expense of the master of
the ship.

Certificate and Declaration by the Veterinary Surgeon at
Port of Shipment of Soundness of Stock.

I, the undersigned, a duly-qualified veterinary surgeon, having
made thorough inquiry respecting, and a careful examination
of, the live-stock about to be shipped from the Port of
, of which
is the master, for the Colony
by the
of Queensland, which are more particularly described in the
Schedule below, and having made a like inquiry in regard to,
and examination of, the stock about to be put on board the said
vessel for the use of the crew or passengers, particulars of which
are also given below, do hereby solemnly and sincerely declare
that to the best of my knowledge and belief none of the said
stock are infected or likely to be infected with any infectious or
contagious disease.
