IN pursuance of the Act of the Parliament of
Queensland, passed in the thirtieth year of Her
Majesty's reign, and numbered nineteen, intituled
"An Act to prevent the Introduction of Diseased
Animals into the Colony of Queensland, and to check
the Progress of Malignant Diseases in Animals," His
Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the
Executive Council, has been pleased to make the
following regulations for carrying into effect the
provisions of the said Act:—

  1. No cattle, sheep, or pigs shall be introduced or
    imported into the colony except by sea; nor shall
    any such cattle, sheep, or pigs be imported at any
    other port than the Port of Brisbane.

  2. On the arrival of a ship at the Port of Brisbane
    with cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals on board,
    the master shall give immediate notice of their arrival
    to the Commissioner or Commissioners for "The
    Diseased Animals Act."

  3. All such cattle, sheep, or pigs, or other animals
    shall forthwith be examined by a veterinary surgeon
    duly appointed in that behalf, and by the said
    Commissioner or Commissioners, and such veterinary
    surgeon and Commissioner or Commissioners shall
    ascertain, by inspection, inquiry, and such other
    means as may be necessary, whether or not such
    cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals, or any of them,
    are infected, and if it be found that none of them is
    infected shall grant a certificate accordingly; and
    no cattle, sheep, or pigs, or other animals shall be
    landed from the ship until such certificate shall have
    been granted in respect of them.

  4. If any cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals on
    board the ship be found to be infected, they shall be
    forthwith destroyed, whether intended to be landed
    or not.

  5. All cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals found
    on inspection to be free from infection shall be
    washed and disinfected as the Commissioner or
    Commissioners shall direct, and shall be conveyed by
    water at the importer's expense to the quarantine
    station set apart for imported stock.

  6. No fodder put on board of the ship, with or for
    the use of any cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals,
    shall be landed in this colony.

  7. All fittings used on board of the importing ship
    for, with, or about any cattle, sheep, pigs, or other
    animals, and all effects belonging to their attendants,
    shall be disinfected as the Commissioner or Com-
    missioners may direct.

  8. Imported cattle, sheep, or pigs intended to be
    landed in Queensland shall remain in quarantine for
    a period of not less than ninety days, during which
    time they shall be washed and disinfected as the
    Commissioner or Commissioners shall direct, and such
    cattle, sheep, or pigs shall not be released from
    quarantine until they shall have been examined by
    a veterinary surgeon and Commissioner and declared
    to be free from infection, nor until the owner or
    importer shall have proved to the satisfaction of the
    Commissioner or Commissioners that all the conditions
    of these regulations and of any Proclamation made
    under the said Act have been complied with, and
    shall have paid all charges incurred in connection
    with the detention of such sheep, cattle, or pigs in
    quarantine.

  9. All cattle, sheep, pigs, or other animals put on
    board of any ship for the use of the crew or passen-
    gers, and removed to quarantine, shall remain there
    until the vessel is about to leave the port, when they
    may be re-shipped, on the order of the Commissioner
    or Commissioners, at the expense of the master of the
    ship.

  10. These regulations shall not apply to any
    cattle, sheep, or pigs introduced or imported into the
    colony from the Australian Colonies, Tasmania, or
    New Zealand.
