approve of the following scale of fees for
admission into the Masterton Park, County of Wai-
rarapa West, made under "The Greytown and Mas-
terton Public Park and Cemetery Reserve Manage-
ment Act, 1875," by the Masterton Park Trustees :—
For persons, not exceeding ... 2s. 6d. each.
For horses and vehicles, not exceeding 5s. Od. each.

Council of Nelson intituled "The Nelson High-
ways Act, 1872," it is hereby notified that
Mr. THOMAS HODGKINSON
has been duly elected to be a Member for the Tadmor
Subdivision of the Upper Motueka Road District,
County of Collingwood, vice W. Kinzett, resigned.

the Fiji Royal Gazette of Saturday, the 8th
November, 1879, for general information. The
Order in Council referred to was published in the
New Zealand Gazette of the 20th November, 1879,
page 1620.

the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George, Her Majesty's
High Commissioner for the Western Pacific;
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and
over the Colony of Fiji, and Vice Admiral
of the same, &c.

WHEREAS Her Majesty the Queen in Council has
been pleased to issue an order, dated the 14th day
of August, 1879, amending and extending in various
respects the Western Pacific Order in Council of
1877: And whereas by the thirty-third section of
the order of the 14th day of August, 1876, it is
directed that the said order shall, except as other-
wise expressed, commence and have effect on a day
to be fixed by Proclamation under the hand and
official seal of the High Commissioner:
Now, therefore, I do hereby proclaim the Order
in Council dated the 14th day of August, 1879, and
do declare that the said order shall commence and
take effect from and after the eighth day of Novem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine.
Whereof let all men take notice and govern them-
selves accordingly.
Given under my hand and seal, at Nasova,
this eighth day of November, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-nine.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

EXHIBITION OF FLASHING WHITE LIGHT ON AКА-
ROA HEAD, BANKS PENINSULA, EASTERN COAST
OF MIDDLE ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND.

Wellington, N.Z., 9th December, 1879.
WITH reference to the preliminary notice issued
by this department, dated the 16th day of
August last, it is hereby notified that, on and after
Thursday, the 1st day of January, 1880, a light will
be exhibited from the lighthouse which has been
erected on Akaroa Head, the position and character-
istics of which are as follow:—
The Akaroa Head Lighthouse is situated on Akaroa
Head, at the eastern side of the entrance to Akaroa
Harbour, Banks Peninsula.
The tower is 28 feet in height, and is built of
timber and painted white. The light will be a SECOND
ORDER FLASHING WHITE LIGHT, visible all round as
far as the land admits, and will show a FLASH
EVERY TEN SECONDS.
The light will be elevated about 270 feet above the
sea, and, allowing 15 feet for the height of the eye,
will be seen at a distance of 22% nautic miles in
clear weather, and at lesser distances according to
the state of the atmosphere.
