THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and
declare that, by an Order in Council made under the
provisions of "The Bank Holidays Act, 1873," and
"The Bank Holidays Amendment Act, 1878," and
bearing even date herewith, I have declared that the
tenth day of November next and the first day of
December next shall be bank holidays throughout
the Colony of New Zealand, under and for the
purposes of the said Acts.

Given under the hand of His Excellency
Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depen-
dencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same;
and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of
October, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
nine.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and au-
thorities enabling me in that behalf, I, Hercules
George Robert Robinson, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that,
by Order in Council made under the provisions of
"The Bank Holidays Act, 1873," and "The Bank
Holidays Amendment Act, 1878," of even date here-
with, I have appointed Wednesday, the twelfth day
of November next, to be observed as a bank holiday,
and Tuesday, the eleventh day of November next,
Thursday, the thirteenth day of November next, and
Friday, the fourteenth day of November next, to
be observed as bank half-holidays from the hour of
noon, under and for the purposes of the above-
mentioned Acts, within the Provincial District of
Canterbury.

by Order in Council made under the provisions of

with, I have appointed Friday, the twenty-eighth
day of November next, to be observed as a bank
holiday, under and for the purposes of the above-
mentioned Act, within the Boroughs of the City of
Dunedin, South Dunedin, St. Kilda, Caversham,
Roslyn, Mornington, Maori Hill, North-East Valley,
West Harbour, Green Island, and Port Chalmers,
and the Counties of Peninsula and Taieri.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-first day of October, 1879.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
intituled "The Burial-Ground Closing Act,
1874," it is, among other things, enacted that in case
it shall at any time appear to the Governor in
Council that burials in any cemetery or other burial-
ground or place of burial whatsoever should be
wholly discontinued or should be discontinued sub-
ject to any exemption or qualification:

And whereas it has been made to appear to the
Governor in Council to be necessary for the safety
of the public health of the district that burials in the
piece of ground in the Township of Amberley, de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto, should be discontinued,
and that a sufficient burial-ground not within the
limits of any town has been provided, and satisfactory
arrangements have been made for the interment of
the dead therein :

Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, by and with the advice of the Executive
Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the herein-
before recited Act, do hereby order and direct that,
from and after the twenty-second day of April, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty, being not less
than a period of six months from the day of the
date of this Order in Council, all further burials in
the aforesaid piece of ground shall be discontinued,
subject nevertheless to the exceptions mentioned in
the second section of "The Burial-Ground Closing
Act, 1874," aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Township of Amberley,
Provincial District of Canterbury, containing 1 acre
3 roods 22 perches, more or less, being the lot marked
Church and School Reserve on the plan of the said
township, deposited in the Land Transfer Office,
Christchurch.
