Land temporarily reserved in the Provincial District
of Canterbury.

NORMANBY, Governor.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor may from time to time, either by
general or particular description, and whether the
same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale
temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be
then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands
which in his opinion are required for any of the
purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in
the Provincial District of Canterbury described in
the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in
the said Schedule specified.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement ten (10) acres,
more or less, being Section numbered two thousand
three hundred and forty-eight (2348) (in red), in the
District of Ashburton. Bounded towards the North-
east by Section numbered 29773 for a distance of ten
(10) chains; towards the South-east by a road line
for a distance of ten (10) chains; towards the South-
west by a line parallel to the north-eastern boundary
for a distance of ten (10) chains; towards the North-
west by a line parallel to the south-eastern boundary
for a distance of ten (10) chains: as the same is
delineated on the plans deposited in the Provincial
District Survey Office, Christchurch. For cemetery
purposes.

All that area in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement ten (10) acres,
more or less, being Section numbered two thousand
three hundred and forty-nine (2349) (in red), in the
District of Ashburton. Bounded towards the North-
east by Section numbered 32997 for a distance of
about fourteen (14) chains; towards the North-west
by a road line for a distance of about fifteen (15)
chains; towards the South by a road line for a dis-
tance of about twenty (20) chains fifty (50) links:
as the same is delineated on the plans deposited in
the Provincial District Survey Office, Christchurch.
For cemetery purposes.

Land withdrawn from Sale in Otago.

IN pursuance of the power and authority in me
vested in this behalf by the one hundred and
sixty-seventh section of "The Land Act, 1877," I,
George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Nor-
manby, the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, do hereby withdraw from sale the land described
in the Schedule hereunder written..


SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Otago, containing by admeasurement seven thousand
three hundred (7,300) acres, more or less, situated
partly in Silver Peak Survey District, partly in
North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, and
partly in Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District.
Bounded towards the North by a line due east from
Silver Peak, three thousand eight hundred (3800)
links; towards the East by a line due south to Trig.
Station U, two thousand nine hundred (2900) links;
again towards the North by a line due east, three
thousand (3000) links; again towards the East by a
line due south, four thousand eight hundred (4800)
links; again towards the North by a line due east,
nine thousand nine hundred (9900) links; again
towards the East by a line due south, seven thousand
two hundred (7200) links; thence towards the
South-east by a line through Trig. Station Q to
north boundary of Dunedin and East Taieri Survey
District, twenty-four thousand nine hundred (24900)
links; towards the South by a line due west, twenty-
three thousand three hundred (23300) links; towards
the West by a line due north, thirteen thousand two
hundred (13200) links; thence again towards the
North by a line through Trig. Station B to Trig.
Station D, fourteen thousand six hundred (14600)
links; and towards the North-west by a line to
Silver Peak, the starting point, nineteen thousand
one hundred (19100) links: be all the aforesaid link-
ages more or less, as the same is delineated on the
plan deposited in the Survey Office, Dunedin. For
the extension of the Dunedin water supply.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this eighteenth day of Sep-
tember, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight.

Extension of Time for the taking of Ratepayers' and
Owners' Votes in the Railway District, Duntroon
and Hakateramea Railway.

NORMANBY, Governor.

WHEREAS by section twelve of "The District
Railways Act, 1877," it is, amongst other things,
enacted that, within sixty days from the deposit of
the plan and book of reference, the votes of the rate-
payers and owners of property within a proposed
railway district shall be taken: And whereas the
Duntroon and Hakateramea Railway Company
(Limited) propose to construct within portions of the
Provincial Districts of Canterbury and Otago a rail-
way under the said Act, and on the thirty-first day of
July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight,
did duly deposit the plan and book of reference pur-
suant to the said Act: And whereas by section
fifteen of the said Act it is, amongst other things,
enacted that, if from any cause it shall not be prac-
ticable to take the votes within the said period of
sixty days, the Governor may extend the time for
such period as he thinks fit, not exceeding twenty-
one days from the expiration of such sixty days:
And whereas some considerable time will elapse in
the requisite formation and revision of lists of per-
sons entitled to vote under the said Act in the dis-
trict which it is proposed to constitute a railway
district for the purposes of the construction of the
said railway, and otherwise in carrying the provisions
of the said Act into effect; and it will not be prac-
ticable to take the votes within the said period of
sixty days:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers and
authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby
