Woodville East and West Highway Districts abolished,
and Woodville Highway District constituted.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Province of
Hawke's Bay intituled "The Highways Act,
1871," it is provided that the Superintendent may,
for the purposes of that Act, from time to time, by
notification, divide the province, or any part thereof,
into districts, and in like manner to alter and amend
the names or boundaries of, or abolish, any such dis-
tricts, and to create new districts:
And whereas by warrant dated the first day of
November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
six, the Governor, by virtue of the authority conferred
upon him by the twelfth section of "The Abolition
of Provinces Act, 1875," did appoint John Davies
Ormond to perform those duties and exercise those
powers within the Hawke's Bay Provincial District,
which, under and in pursuance of the said "High-
ways Act, 1871," were vested in or to be exercised
or performed by the Superintendent:
And whereas on the twenty-fourth day of Novem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six, the
said John Davies Ormond, in virtue of the powers
conferred upon him, did, under the authority of the
said recited "Highways Act, 1871," constitute two
highway districts in the said Province of Hawke's
Bay, named respectively Woodville East and Wood-
ville West:
And whereas it is expedient to abolish those dis-
tricts, and to create another district in lieu thereof:
And whereas by "The Abolition of Provinces Act,
1875," the powers, duties, and functions vested in
the Superintendent by the said "Highways Act,
1871," are now vested in the Governor:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in virtue of the powers vested in
me by the said Ordinance and Act, do hereby pro-
claim, notify, and declare that the districts which are
named respectively Woodville East and Woodville
West are hereby abolished as from the date hereof:
And I do further notify and declare that the area
of land described in the Schedule hereto, and the
boundaries thereof as laid down in such Schedule,
shall form a highway district within the terms and
meaning of the said "Highways Act, 1871," and
shall be named the Woodville District.
SCHEDULE.
THIS district commences at Whakataura, at the south-
western corner of the Porangahau District; follows
along the western boundary of that district to the
southern boundary of the Danevirk District, along
that boundary to the western boundary of the Wai-
pawa County, thence in a southerly direction along
that boundary to the Manawatu River at the Gorge,
follows up the Manawatu River to the southern
boundary of the Waipawa County, and thence in an
easterly direction along that boundary to the starting
point at the south-western corner of the Porangahau
District.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and Saint George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depen-
dencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same;
and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wel-
lington, this thirty-first day of August,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-eight.

First Meeting of Southland High Schools Board.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and au-
thority vested in me for this purpose by "The
Southland Boys' and Girls' High School Act, 1877,"
I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Nor-
manby, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
do hereby appoint that the first meeting of the
Southland Boys' and Girls' High Schools Board shall
be held in the Education Board office, at Invercargill,
upon Tuesday, the tenth day of September instant, at
three o'clock p.m.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the

Land set apart on Deferred Payments in Canterbury.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the fifty-third section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time set apart out of any suburban or rural
lands such blocks or allotments of land as he shall
think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred
payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day
on which the land shall be open for application; and
that he may also in like manner set apart for sale on
deferred payments such blocks or allotments as may
be recommended by any Land Board, and may also
from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the above-
