HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Supreme Court Act, 1860,"
it is enacted that there shall be held Circuit
Courts for the despatch of Civil and Criminal busi-
ness of the Court before one of the Judges thereof,
at such places and times as the Governor in Council
may from time to time appoint:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in him by "The Supreme Court
Act, 1860," doth hereby appoint that there shall be
held in the Nelson District, at the Provincial Council
Hall, at Nelson, on the fourteenth day of October
next, and in the Westland District, at the Supreme
Courthouse, at Hokitika, on the thirtieth day of
September next, Circuit Courts for the despatch of
Civil and Criminal business of the said Court.

New Zealand Railways.—Cancelling By-law 14, fixed
by Order in Council of 17th April, 1877.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
sixth day of August, 1878.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance of the power and authority vested in
him by the one hundred and forty-fifth section
of "The Public Works Act, 1876," and of all other
powers and authorities in any wise enabling him,
His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council thereof, doth hereby cancel By-
law fourteen (14), fixed by Order in Council of the
seventeenth day of April, one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-seven.

Additional Regulations under "The Electric Tele-
graph Act, 1875."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
sixth day of August, 1878.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Electric Telegraph Act,
1875," it is, amongst other things, enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor, by Order in
Council, to make and alter regulations for fixing and
determining the fees, rates, or dues to be demanded
and received for the transmission of any despatch,
message, or communication by means of any tele-
graph line, and for the delivery thereof respectively,
and the modes and times of payment; and that such
regulations shall have the force of law when pub-
lished in the Government Gazette of the colony:

Now, therefore, His Excellency George Augustus
Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the powers vested in him by the herein-
before recited Act, doth, with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of New Zealand, make the
additional regulations contained in the Schedule
hereto: And in further pursuance and exercise of
the said powers, and with the like advice and consent
as aforesaid, doth hereby order and declare that such
regulations shall take effect and remain in force for
three months from and after the first day of July,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, and
that they shall be read with and form part of the
regulations now in force.

SCHEDULE.

THE tariff rates at present in force, limiting the
receipt of telegrams by evening papers between the
hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on week days to five
hundred words at evening rates, shall, during the
time Parliament is sitting, be extended to one thousand
words between the same hours, and during all other

Land temporarily reserved in the Provincial District
of Otago.

NORMANBY, Governor.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor may from time to time, either by
general or particular description, and whether the
same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale
temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be
then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands,
which in his opinion are required for any of the
purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in
the Provincial District of Otago described in the
Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose in the
said Schedule specified.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Otago, containing by admeasurement one (1) rood
and nineteen and seven-tenths (19.7) poles, more or
less, situate in the Township of Alexandra, being
Sections numbered respectively forty-four (44),
forty-five (45), Block two (II.), on the map of the
said township. Bounded towards the North-east by
Cookhaven Street, two hundred (200) links; towards
the North-west by Section numbered forty-six (46),
one hundred and eighty-six and seven-tenths (186.7)
links; towards the South-east by part of Section 2,
Section 3, and part of Section 4, two hundred (200)
links; and towards the South-west by Section 43,
one hundred and eighty-six and seven-tenths (186.7)
links: as the same is delineated on the plans in the
Survey Office, Dunedin. As a site for a Court-
house.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this thirtieth day of July,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight.
