of a portion only of such reserve; but no change
shall be made in the specific purpose for which any
such reserve shall have been set apart until after a
public notice of such intended change has been in-
serted in the Gazette for four consecutive weeks:
And whereas the piece of land described in the
first column of the Schedule hereto was heretofore
set apart as a reserve for the specific purpose specified
in the said column: And whereas it being con-
sidered expedient that, as regards the land reserved
as aforesaid, which is described in the second column
of the Schedule hereto, the said specific purpose
should be changed to the specific purpose specified in
the third column in the said Schedule, the Governor
did, in pursuance of the provisions of the one hundred
and forty-eighth section of "The Land Act, 1877,"
cause previous notices of such intended change to be
inserted in the New Zealand Gazette of the ninth,
sixteenth, twenty-third, and thirtieth of May, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, respec-
tively:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance
of the powers and authorities vested in me by "The
Land Act, 1877," change the specific purpose of the
reserve described in the second column of the said
Schedule to the specific purpose set opposite such
description in the third column of the said Schedule,
and such land shall henceforth be deemed to be re-
served and set apart for such last-mentioned specific
purpose, and no other.

Warrant appointing certain Persons to issue Licenses
in Provincial Districts.

NORMANBY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and autho-
rities enabling me in that behalf, I, George
Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint the officers named in the Schedule hereto to
have, exercise, and perform, within the provincial
districts set opposite the names of their offices, all
the powers, duties, and functions which immediately
before the abolition of the provinces formerly in-

cluded within the said districts were vested in or
might be exercised or performed by the Provincial
Treasurers, Provincial Secretaries, or other public
officers of such provinces, so far as relates to or
concerns the issue of licences of any kind or de-
scription whatsoever, under any Act or Ordinance
in force within such provincial districts respectively.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this nineteenth day of June,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
intituled "The Native Land Act, 1873," it is
enacted that, from and out of any land which may
have heretofore been or may be granted under the
provisions of any of the Acts thereby repealed, or of
that Act, it shall be lawful for the Governor, at any
time thereafter, to take and lay off for public pur-
poses one or more line or lines of road or railway
