district within or within one mile of the limits thereof,
and to appoint any one of such polling-places to be
the principal polling-place for the district, and all or
any of such polling-places from time to time to
abolish, and, if he think fit, to appoint other polling-
places in lieu of those abolished, and that every such
warrant shall be published in the New Zealand
Gazette: Provided always that no polling-place
shall be appointed by the Governor under the said
Act, unless he shall be first satisfied that the place to
be appointed is more convenient than any other for
at least twenty electors to record their votes thereat:
Now know ye that I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of New Zealand,
in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested
by the said Act, do hereby appoint the following
place to be a polling-place for the electoral district
hereinafter specified, for the election of Members of
the House of Representatives, namely:-

For the District of City of Dunedin,-
The old Supreme Courthouse, Dunedin.

And I do further appoint the above-mentioned
polling-place to be the principal polling-place for
such district.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl
of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice - Admiral of the same; at
Wellington, this seventeenth day of June,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-eight.

HEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877;" it is enacted
that the Governor may from time to time, either by
general or particular description, and whether the
same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale
temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be
then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands
which in his opinion are required for any of the pur-
poses in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in
the Provincial District of Otago described in the
Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose in the
said Schedule specified.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago,
containing by admeasurement one (1) rood, more or
less, situate in the Township of Macrae's, being Sec-
tion numbered ten (10), Block five (V.), on the
map of the said township. Bounded towards the
North-west by Elizabeth Street, one hundred (100)
links; towards the North-east by Section numbered
11, two hundred and fifty (250) links; towards the
South-east by Section numbered 3, one hundred (100)
links; and towards the South-west by Section num-
bered 9, two hundred and fifty (250) links: as the
same is delineated on the map in the Survey Office,
Dunedin.
As a site for a pound.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this eighteenth day of June,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight.
