Delegating certain Powers under "The Mines Act,
1877."

WHEREAS by the one hundredth section of 'The
Mines Act, 1877," it is enacted that it shall
be lawful for the Governor, under his hand and the
Public Seal of the Colony, from time to time to dele-
gate to such person or persons, being in the service
of the Crown, as the Governor may deem fit, all
or any of the powers vested in the Governor by
the said Act, except the powers conferred by sec-
tions six, seven, eight, nine, ten, forty-five, forty-
six, forty-nine, fifty-one, fifty-four, fifty-five, fifty-
nine, sixty-one, sixty-eight, seventy, eighty-two,
eighty-three, ninety-nine, one hundred and one, one
hundred and seven, and one hundred and twelve,
subject or not to any limitations or restrictions as he
may think fit, and in like manner to alter or revoke
any such delegation: And whereas it is expedient
to make the delegation hereinafter contained:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the said
recited Act, do hereby delegate unto James Pillans
Maitland, of Dunedin, Esquire, and Commissioner
of Crown Lands for the Provincial District of
Otago, all the powers vested in the Governor
under the thirty-seventh, thirty-eighth, thirty-ninth,
fortieth, forty-first, forty-third, forty-fourth, fifty-
sixth, sixtieth, and sixty-fifth sections of the said
Act, and as the same sections, or any of them, may
from time to time be amended: And I do hereby
order and declare that the powers hereby delegated
shall be exercised and performed by the said James
Pillans Maitland within the Provincial District of
Otago, and so long only as he shall hold the office
of Commissioner of Crown Lands as aforesaid, and
that all such powers shall be exercised in accordance
with any regulations now in force under the said Act,
or that may hereafter be in force so far as the same
relates to the said powers hereby delegated, and
subject also to the consent and approval of the
Land Board of the Otago Land District.

Land temporarily reserved in the Provincial District
of Hawke's Bay.
NORMANBY, Governor.
WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-
fourth section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is
enacted that the Governor may from time to time,
either by general or particular description, and
whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve
from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same
may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown
lands which in his opinion are required for any of
the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in
the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay, described in
the Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose in
the said Schedule specified.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial
District of Hawke's Bay, in the Pohui Survey Dis-
trict, situate at Te Haroto, containing by admeasure-
ment twenty (20) acres, more or less. Bounded on the
North-west by part of the Te Haroto Reserve and
the Tarawera Block, one thousand five hundred and
thirty-five (1535) links; on the North-east and
South-east by part of the Te Haroto Reserve, one
thousand five hundred and six (1506) links and six
hundred and seventy-two (672) links respectively;
on the South by the Taupo Road, five hundred and
ninety (590) links, three hundred and twenty-three
(323) links, and one hundred and one (101) links
respectively; and on the South-west by the Tarawera
Block, nine hundred and seventy-seven (977) links.
For purposes of public defence.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-eighth day of
March, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight.
