LOWER AORANGI.
Notification of the Payment of Money on and Entry
into Negotiations for the Purchase of Native Lands
in the North Island.
NORMANBY, Governor.
IN pursuance of the provisions of "The Government
Native Land Purchases Act, 1877," it is hereby
notified that money has been paid by or on behalf
of Her Majesty the Queen for the purchase or
acquisition of the several blocks of Native land in the
North Island, which are more particularly described
and mentioned in the Schedule hereto; and, further,
that negotiations in respect of such purchase or
acquisitions as aforesaid have been entered into by or
on behalf of Her said Majesty.
SCHEDULE.
MANAWATU-WAIRARAPA No. 3 (OR MANGATAINOKA).
ALL that block or parcel of land in the Wairarapa
District, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
containing by estimation 74,018 acres or thereabouts,
and known by the name of Manawatu-Wairarapa
No. 3. Bounded on the North by the Manawatu
River and Puketoi No. 1 Block; on the East by
Puketoi No. 1, Manawatu-Wairarapa No. 2B, Mana-
watu-Wairarapa No. 2A, Manawatu-Wairarapa No. 2,
and Manawatu-Wairarapa No. 1 Blocks; on the
South by the Manawatu Block; and on the West by
Kaihinu Nos. 2 and 1, and Mangahao Nos. 1, 2, and
3 Blocks: as delineated on a plan deposited in the
office of the Deputy Inspector of Surveys, Wellington.
This block has passed the Native Land Court.
PUKEHOU No. 5A.
All that block or parcel of land in the Otaki Dis-
trict, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
containing by estimation 5,600 acres or thereabouts,
and known by the name of Pukehou No. 5A.
Bounded on the North by Pukehou Nos. 3, 4, and
5M Blocks; on the East by Crown land; on the
South by Pukehou Nos. 5E, 5B, and 5L Blocks; and
on the West by Pukehou Nos. 5F and 5G Blocks: as
delineated on a plan deposited in the office of the
Deputy Inspector of Surveys, Wellington. This
block has passed the Native Land Court.
HOROWHENUA.
All that block or parcel of land in the Manawatu
District, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
containing by estimation 52,000 acres or thereabouts,
and known by the name of Horowhenua. Bounded
on the North by Manawatu-Kukutauaki Nos. 2E,
3, 7c, and 7D Blocks; on the East by Government
land; on the South by Muhunoa Nos. 4 and 3, and
the Waiwiri Blocks; and on the West by the sea:
as delineated on a plan deposited in the office of the
Deputy Inspector of Surveys, Wellington. This
Block has passed the Native Land Court.
MIDDLE AORANGI.
All that block or parcel of land in the Manawatu
District, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
containing by admeasurement 7,105 acres or there-
abouts, and known by the name of Middle Aorangi.
Bounded on the North by the Oroua River and the
Upper Aorangi Block; on the East by Crown lands;
the West by the Oroua River: as delineated on a
plan deposited in the office of the Deputy Inspector
of Surveys, Wellington. This block has passed the
Native Land Court.
All that block or parcel of land in the Manawatu
District, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
containing by admeasurement 4,925 acres or there-
abouts, and known by the name of Lower Aorangi.
Bounded on the North by the Middle Aorangi
Block; on the East by Crown land; on the South
by the Manawatu River; and on the West by the
Oroua River: as delineated on a plan deposited in
the office of the Deputy Inspector of Surveys,
Wellington. This block has passed the Native Land
Court.
OTAMAKAPUA.
All that block or parcel of land in the Wanganui
District, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
containing by estimation 147,000 acres or there-
abouts, and known by the name of Otamakapua.
Bounded on the North by the Rangitikei and Kawa-
tau Rivers; on the East by the Mangoira-Ruahine
Block; on the South by the Oroua River and the
Rangitikei-Manawatu Purchase Block; and on the
West by the Rangitikei River: as delineated on a
plan deposited in the office of the Deputy Inspector
of Surveys, Wellington. This block has not passed
the Native Land Court.
MANGOIRA-RUAHINE.
All that block or parcel of land in the Wanganui
District, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
containing by admeasurement 35,660 acres or there-
abouts, and known by the name of Mangoira-
Ruahine. Bounded on the North by Native land
and the Pourangaki River; on the East by Native
land; on the South by the Manawatu No. 5 Block
and the Oroua River; and on the West by the
Otamakapua Block: as delineated on a plan de-
posited in the office of the Deputy Inspector of
Surveys, Wellington. This block has passed the
Native Land Court.
RETARUKE.
All that block or parcel of land in the Wanganui
District, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
containing by admeasurement 20,585 acres or there-
abouts, and known by the name of Retaruke.
Bounded on the North by the Kirikau Block and
Native land; on the East and South by Native land;
and on the West by the Wanganui River: as de-
lineated on a plan deposited in the office of the
Deputy Inspector of Surveys, Wellington. This
block has passed the Native Land Court.
PIKOPIKO No. 3.
All that block or parcel of land in the Wanganui
District, in the Provincial District of Wellington,
containing by estimation 1,112 acres or thereabouts,
and known by the name of Pikopiko No. 3. Bounded
on the North by the Pukohu Block; on the East by
the Pukohu and Pohuehue Blocks and the Manga-
whero River; on the South by Te Maire and Piko-
piko No. 1 Blocks; and on the West by Native
land: as delineated on a plan deposited in the office
of the Deputy Inspector of Surveys, Wellington.
This block has not passed the Native Land Court.
