THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Corporations Act, 1876,' be pledged as security for
such loan:" And afterwards, to wit, on the 26th
day of November, 1877, at a public meeting called in
pursuance of section 141 of the said Act, for the
purpose of considering the said proposal, the following
resolution was duly proposed and seconded: "That
this meeting indorse the action of the Borough
Council in asking for borrowing powers to complete
the water-race," but such resolution was not carried.
That I thereupon gave notice that a poll would be
taken thereon, and on the 6th day of December,
1877, in pursuance of section 142 of the said Act, I
caused such poll to be taken, when the number of
votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeded by
more than one-fifth the number recorded against it;
the said resolution is therefore deemed to be carried.
Dated this twenty-second day of December, 1877.
