Commissioner of Customs; and subject also to the
condition that no notices to mariners shall be issued
by the Thames Harbour Board until after such
notices have been approved of by the Marine Depart-
ment. Also such of the powers vested in the
Governor by the said seventh section as to enable
him to appoint, suspend, or remove Port or Harbour
Masters, and other officers of the port or harbour:
Provided that this delegation shall be limited to the
Port of Thames aforesaid.

by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, do hereby delegate unto
THE THAMES HARBOUR BOARD,
as the same is constituted by "The Thames Harbour
Board Act, 1876," all the powers, duties, and
authorities which immediately before "The Abolition
of Provinces Act, 1875," came into operation were
vested in or to be exercised or performed by the
Superintendent by sections thirty, thirty-one, and
thirty-two of "The Marine Act, 1867," and which
powers and authorities by the said "Abolition of
Provinces Act, 1875," are vested in and are to be
exercised and performed by the Governor: Provided
that this delegation shall be limited to the Port of
Thames, as the same is defined by warrant dated
the seventh day of September, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-four, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette of the tenth day of September, in
the same year.

Delegation of Governor's Powers under Sections 12
and 42 of "Marine Act, 1867," to the Thames
Harbour Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-ninth day of January, 1878.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the sixth section of "The Marine
Act, 1867" (hereinafter called "the said Act"),
it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor
in Council may from time to time delegate all or any
of the powers and authorities vested in him by the
said Act, subject to any restrictions or stipulations
which may be specified in such order: And whereas
by "The Thames Harbour Board Act, 1876," a
Harbour Board for the Port of Thames has been
constituted and incorporated under the name of
"The Thames Harbour Board:" And whereas it is
expedient that the powers and authorities conferred
upon the Governor by the twelfth and forty-second
sections of "The Marine Act, 1867," should be dele-
gated to the said Board as hereinafter provided:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
hereinbefore recited power and authority, and by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, do hereby delegate unto the Thames
Harbour Board aforesaid the powers and authorities
vested in me by the twelfth and forty-second sections
of the said Act: Provided, however, that this dele-
gation shall extend and operate so far as regards the
Port of Thames only; and that the powers so dele-
gated shall only be exercised by the said Board within
the limits of the said port, as the same is defined in a
warrant bearing date the seventh day of September,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette of the tenth
day of September in the said year.

Extending Part XI. of "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1876," to the Corporation of Oamaru.
NORMANBY, Governor.
WHEREAS by the three hundred and fifty-ninth
section of "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," it is enacted that the Governor may, on the
petition of any of the Councils of any of the Corpora-
tions mentioned in the Third Schedule to the said
Act, extend any Part or Parts of the said Act to the
Corporation the Council of which shall petition, and
thereupon the Part or Parts of the said Act so ex-
tended shall have the force of law within such Cor-
poration: And whereas the Council of the Corpora-
tion of Oamaru (being a Corporation mentioned
or referred to in the Third Schedule to the said Act)
has petitioned His Excellency the Governor to extend
Part XI. of the said Act to the said Corporation:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise and pursuance of the power and authority
conferred upon him by the said Act, doth hereby ex-
tend Part XI. of the said Act to the said Corporation.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-eighth day of
January, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-ninth day of January, 1878.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
BY virtue of the powers and authorities in me
vested in that behalf by "The Marine Act,
1867," and "The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875,"
I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Nor-
Land temporarily reserved in the Provincial District
of Canterbury.
NORMANBY, Governor.
WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor may from time to time, either by
a general or particular description, and whether the
same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale
temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be
then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands
which in his opinion are required for any of the
purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in
the Provincial District of Canterbury, described in
the Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose in
the said Schedule specified.
