Extending Time for Appointment of Valuer and for |
Preparation of Valuation List, Matakohe Highway
District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-ninth day of January, 1878.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

HEREAS by "The Rating Act, 1876," it is
enacted that if the local body or the Assess-
ment Court fails through misadventure or accident
to do anything which by that Act is required to
be done in a fixed time, the Governor may, by an
Order in Council, published in the Government
Gazette and publicly notified, extend the time for
doing such thing, and may by any such order validate
anything which may have been irregularly done in
matter of form, so that the intent and purpose of the
said Act may have effect: And whereas the Mata-
kohe District Board, being the local body of the
Matakohe Highway District, constituted under an
Act of the Province of Auckland intituled "The
Highways Act, 1874," have failed by misadventure
to appoint a Valuer or Valuers as provided by the
sixth section of "The Rating Act, 1876," and no
valuation list for that district as by that Act pre-
scribed has been prepared, signed, and transmitted:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and autho-
rities vested in me by "The Rating Act, 1876," and
of every other power and authority enabling me in
that behalf, do hereby, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony,
extend the time for the appointment of a Valuer or
Valuers, and for preparing, signing, and transmitting
the valuation lists for the said district, until
not later than the ninth day of February, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight; and with
the like advice and consent do hereby order that such
valuation list shall be deposited, lie open for inspec-
tion, public notice be given, ratepayers and others may
inspect such valuation list and take copies thereof,
and make objections thereto, as provided by the said
Act, from the ninth day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-eight, to the twenty-
eighth day of February, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight; and I do hereby, with the like
advice and consent, extend the time accordingly.

lists for the said county until not later than the
thirty-first day of January, one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-eight; and with the like advice and
consent do hereby order that such valuation lists
shall be deposited, lie open for inspection, be publicly
notified, ratepayers and others may inspect the
same and take copies thereof, and make objections
thereto, as provided by the said Act, from the thirty-
first day of January, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight, until the twenty-eighth day of
February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight; and, with the like advice and consent, I do
hereby extend the time accordingly.

HEREAS the Valuers of the County of South-
land were by misadventure unable to prepare,
sign, and transmit to the Council of the said county
valuation lists, as by the sixth section of "The Rating
Act, 1876," is provided:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in
exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me
by "The Rating Act, 1876," and "The Counties
Delegation of Governor's Powers under Section 7 of
"The Marine Act, 1867," to the Thames Harbour
Board.

HEREAS by the sixth section of "The Marine
Act, 1867," it is, among other things, enacted
that the Governor may, by Order in Council, from
time to time delegate all or any of the powers and
authorities vested in him by "The Marine Act,
1867," subject to any regulations, restrictions, or
stipulations that may be specified in such order:
And whereas by an Act of the General Assembly
intituled "The Thames Harbour Board Act, 1876,"
a Harbour Board was constituted for the Port of
Thames, and which Board was constituted a body
corporate by the name of "The Thames Harbour
Board:"
And whereas it is expedient that certain powers
should be delegated to the Thames Harbour Board,
as in manner hereinafter set forth :
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, in pur-
suance and exercise of the hereinbefore recited power
and authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby
delegate unto
THE THAMES HARBOUR BOARD
aforesaid the several powers and authorities men-
tioned and set forth in the Schedule hereto annexed,
such powers and authorities to be exercised within
the limits of the Port of Thames, as defined in a
warrant bearing date the seventh day of September,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette of the tenth
day of September in the same year; subject, how-
ever, to such restrictions as in the said Schedule
set forth.
SCHEDULE.
SUCH of the powers vested in the Governor by the
seventh section of "The Marine Act, 1867," as
enable him to erect, superintend, and maintain har-
bour marks, buoys, lights, and beacons within the
limits of the Port of Thames or the approaches
thereto. Subject, however, to such directions as may
from time to time be issued by the Commissioner of
Customs as to the size, position, and colour of such
harbour marks, buoys, and beacons, and, in the case
