to the time last mentioned: And whereas the lands
hereinafter described were, previous to the coming
into operation of "The Waste Lands Administration
Act, 1876," promised to Natives, but for want of
surveys could not be proclaimed previous to that Act
coming into operation :
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said
1-ded Acts, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
several parcels of land described in the Schedules
hereto, marked respectively A, B, C, D, E, F, G,
H, I, J, K, and L, shall be and the same are hereby
reserved for the purposes mentioned in the fourth
section of the hereinbefore in part recited Act.
SCHEDULE A.
NATIVE RESERVES, WHAKATANE.
RESERVE No. 1, Allotment 28, Parish of Rangi-
taiki. Awarded to Ngatiawa (Whakatane section of
tribe). Containing 2,510 acres, more or less.
Bounded on the North by the Bay of Plenty; on
the East by Native Reserves and the Whakatane
River; on the South by Native Reserve No. 29
(Patuwai); on the West by the Orine Block.
Commencing at a point on the sea-coast being north-
east corner of the Orine Block; thence in a south-
westerly direction, fourteen thousand nine hundred
and ninety-seven (14997) links; thence by a line in
an easterly direction fourteen thousand four hun-
dred and forty-seven (14447) links, two thousand
seven hundred (2700) links (being north boundary
of allotment 29), to the Whakatane River; thence
following the river in a north-easterly direction to
the south-west corner of Allotment 13 (Mere Mahi);
thence following the western boundary of Lot 13 to
the Orini River; thence following the river in a
south-easterly direction to the south-west corner of
Allotment 27 (Burial Reserve); thence following
western boundary of Lot 27 to high watermark, Bay
of Plenty; thence following high watermark in a
north-westerly direction to the point of commence-
ment.
SCHEDULE B.
RESERVE No. 2, Allotment 29, Parish of Rangi-
taiki. Awarded to Patuwai tribe. Containing 1,330
acres, more or less.
Bounded on the North by Native Reserve No.
28; on the East by the Whakatane River; on the
South by Native Reserve No. 30; on the West by
the Orine Block. Commencing at the north-west
corner of Allotment 28, following southern boundary
of said lot to Whakatane River; thence following
the river in a southerly direction to north-east corner
of Lot 30; thence in a south-westerly direction,
eight thousand and twenty (8020) links; thence in a
westerly direction, seven thousand six hundred and
fifty-eight (7658) links, being north boundary of
Allotment 30; thence following the eastern boundary
of the Orine Block in a northerly direction, eleven
thousand three hundred and ninety-six (11396) links,
to point of commencement.
SCHEDULE C.
RESERVE No. 3, Allotment 30, Parish of Rangi-
taiki, North Subdivision. Awarded to Te Patuto-
hora (division of Ngatipukeko tribe). Containing
3,306 acres, more or less.
Bounded on the North by Native Reserve No. 29;
on the East by the Whakatane River and the
Waioho Creek; on the South by South Subdivision
of Lot 30. Commencing at the south-west corner
of Allotment 29, following eastern boundary of the
Orine Block in a south-westerly direction, seventeen
thousand two hundred and fifty-five (17255) links;
thence in an easterly direction on a surveyed line,
twenty-two thousand seven hundred and sixty (22760)
links; thence by a surveyed line due north,
three thousand one hundred (3100) links, to the
Waioho Creek; thence following creek in a northerly
direction to its junction with the Whakatane River;
thence following river in a north-westerly direction
to the south-east corner of Allotment 29; thence
following south boundary of Lot 29 to point of com-
mencement. Together with the fifty-acre Timber
Reserve situated in Allotment 30, South Subdivision.
Also Reserve No. 4, Timber Reserve, commencing
at a point near the Waioho Creek in a southerly
direction, two thousand five hundred (2500) links;
thence in an easterly direction, two thousand (2000)
links; thence in a northerly direction, two thousand
five hundred (2500) links; thence in a westerly
direction, two thousand (2000) links, to point of
commencement.
SCHEDULE D.
RESERVE No. 5, Allotment 30, South Subdivision,
Parish of Rangitaiki. Awarded to Ngatirangataua
(division of Ngatipukeko tribe). Containing 2,267
acres, more or less.
Commencing at the south-west corner of Allot-
ment 30, North Subdivision; following the eastern
boundary of the Orine Block in a south-westerly
direction, five thousand six hundred and sixty-two
(5662) links; thence on a surveyed line in an
easterly direction, thirty-two thousand six hundred
and sixty-five (32665) links, three thousand four
hundred and fifteen (3415) links, to the Whakatane
River; thence following the river in a north-westerly
direction to the mouth of the Waioho Creek; thence
following up creek to the eastern corner peg of
Lot 30, North Subdivision; thence following boun-
dary line due south, three thousand one hundred
(3100) links; thence following south boundary of
North Subdivision of Allotment 30, twenty-two
thousand seven hundred and sixty (22760) links,
to point of commencement. Together with the
Timber Reserve of fifty acres (Reserve No. 6), which
commences at the south-west boundary of the
Patutohora Timber Reserve, before described, in a
southerly direction, two thousand five hundred (2500)
links; thence in an easterly direction, two thousand
(2000) links; thence in a northerly direction, two
thousand five hundred (2500) links, to south-east
corner of Patutohora Timber Reserve; thence fol-
lowing south boundary of said reserve, two thousand
(2000) links, to point of commencement.
SCHEDULE E.
RESERVE No. 7, Allotment 31, Parish of Rangitaiki.
Awarded to Te Ngatiawa (Whakatane section of
tribe). Containing 8,151 acres, more or less.
Bounded on the North by Native Reserve, South
Subdivision 30; on the East by Native Reserve and
the Whakatane River; on the South by Native Re-
serve No. 32; on the West by the Orine Block.
Commencing at the south-west corner of Allotment
30, following eastern boundary of the Orine Block
in a south-westerly direction, nineteen thousand four
hundred and sixty (19460) links; thence in an
easterly direction on a surveyed line twenty-one
thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight (21858) links,
twenty thousand nine hundred (20900) links, to the
Whakatane River; thence following river in a
northerly direction to south-west corner of the fifty-
acre reserve within the block; thence following
along western boundary of reserve, six thousand
one hundred and three (6103) links; thence follow-
ing south boundary of south subdivision of Allot-
