boundaries to define and alter, and in any such Pro-
clamation to fix a time on and from which any such
district shall be constituted or abolished, as the case
may be: And whereas by a Proclamation bearing
date the nineteenth day of September, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-six, His Excellency the
Governor, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities so vested in him, did proclaim and
constitute the District of Timaru, as described in
the Schedule to the said Proclamation, to be, on and
from the eighteenth day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-six, a Resident Magis-
trate's District within the meaning and for the
purposes of the said Act:

And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries
of the said District of Timaru so constituted as afore-
said, and to constitute the District of Geraldine:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authorities so vested in me as aforesaid,
do hereby alter the boundaries of the said District
of Timaru as described in the Schedule hereto, as and
from the first day of December next; and do hereby
constitute and proclaim the Geraldine District, as
described in the Schedule hereto, to be a Resident
Magistrate's District as from the said first day of
December next, for the purposes and within the
meaning of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

GERALDINE DISTRICT.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Canterbury, bounded towards the North-east by the
Ashburton District, as defined by a Proclamation
bearing date the 19th September, 1876; towards
the South-east by the sea to the Opihi River; to-
wards the South-west by the Opihi River aforesaid
to its source, thence by a right line to the nearest
mouth of the Godley River in Lake Tekapo, from
thence by a right line to Mount Cook on the Southern
Alps; and towards the North-west by the summit of
the main range of the Southern Alps aforesaid to the
western angle of the Ashburton District aforesaid.

TIMARU DISTRICT.

All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Canterbury, bounded towards the North-east by the
Geraldine District hereinbefore defined; towards the
East by the sea to the Waitaki River; towards the
South by the Provincial District of Otago to Mount
Aspiring on the Southern Alps; and towards the
North-west by the summit of main range of the
Southern Alps aforesaid to Mount Cook.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
thirtieth day of November, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-seven.
